The sign says HELP WANTED. Uncle Sam needs you young Americans for deployment into the vast black hole that is swallowing up U.S. troops for no rational or justifiable reason; it's called Afghanistan. Barack Obama is the master recruiter who is drawing upon the multi-thousands of young Americans who desperately need work but cannot find it. They are easy, readily available targets for America's agenda of perpetual war.
You may recall that Barack Obama was once a community organizer in Chicago, and it is said he was very good at it. His primary function has now become the master recruiter for America's war machine, and he is very good at that too. But it is not really that difficult a task because many young Americans have few choices. There are no jobs; they do not know where to turn; and so, the agents of war feast on their misfortune.
It takes a special kind of talent to do that kind of recruiting for such a misguided cause and reason. Most of us in America would find that kind of work very repulsive and loathsome, but some types of individuals are born to excel at it. Mr. Obama is totally lacking the talents needed to solve our many domestic problems but he sure knows in which direction to channel those needing a job, any job: he recruits them for the furnaces of war.
What are all these newly recruited young Americans going to be doing in that barren, mountainous nation that prides itself for expelling every invader that has ever tried to dominate and pacify its people? Is anyone so gullible and so misinformed that they still buy into Mr. Obama's justification for this war without end? That these troops are there to guarantee the security of those of us back here in the states? That they are bringing democracy to the people of Afghanistan? That's pure fantasy; we are there to capture the rich resources of Central Asia, but Mr. Obama would never acknowledge that fact and tell Americans the real truth.
Mr. Obama seems to be completely blind to how dire the condition of America has become. We have a tremendous problem with unemployment, job foreclosures, personal bankruptcies, people with no health insurance, states becoming insolvent, teachers, firefighters and police losing their jobs, our national infrastructure crumbling, and an economy that is tanking. While this country is literally falling apart at the seams, a never ending stream of money is being channeled into Obama's wars in foreign lands.
The stress and pressure on the majority of Americans is rapidly rising as they fear for their jobs, the loss of their homes, and their very survival. Are they getting any kind of message from their president that he understands their plight and that he will make jobs and the economy his #1 priority? Nothing, nada, not one message of hope and inspiration that can help them to cope. Faith, hope, and change have fallen by the wayside, never to return.
Jonathan Alter of Newsweek appears to be a champion of President Obama and, in his book The Promise , he compares him favorably with President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He even has the audacity to say that FDR "had it easier than Mr. Obama." FDR was the architect of America's recovery from the Great Depression and a fearless leader who created numerous new programs to employ Americans and rebuild America. To compare FDR's accomplishments with Mr. Obama's total inability to create any kind of jobs program is baffling.
Senator Lloyd Bentsen, in his 1988 vice-presidential debate with Senator Dan Quayle, said these famous words: "Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy, I knew Jack Kennedy, Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy. A modern-day update of that quote: "Many of us are aware of the tremendous accomplishments and leadership of President Roosevelt during those trying times. History has recorded what FDR did for America and we have seen what Mr. Obama has accomplished. Barack Obama is certainly not a Franklin Delano Roosevelt and will never be."
By embracing the doctrine of perpetual war, President Obama is guaranteeing the continuing demise of this economy and the erosion of this nation's foundations. The most dangerous and ominous sign that America is facing the most critical time in the past six decades is the fact that numerous states have deficits in the billions of dollars and are finding it very difficult and virtually impossible to cope with their problems without cutting critically needed jobs and services.
We have a president who should be able to see and understand that our states, the foundation of this federal constitutional republic, desperately need assistance. But he is basically ignoring them in their greatest time of need. Have you ever heard this president say one word about the great distress that the states are experiencing? Have you heard anything coming out of the muzzled mainstream media to highlight these problems? This issue is being given minimal attention.
The reason I keep talking about the distress of the states is thatstates are where we Americans live - that's where our problems are, not in Washington D.C., Iraq or Afghanistan. That money is needed here in our states where we carry on our lives; but instead it continues to be used to build countless military bases and massive embassies costing hundreds of millions of dollars in the countries that we have invaded and occupied. But does this president have any intention of re-channeling some of these funds into our states? Not a chance. He is totally hooked on his agenda of war.
If President Obama had any degree of courage and conviction, he would end these wars and use the massive funds freed up to restore America's foundation, no matter the criticism from the war hawks, the Pentagon, the defense industry, or anyone else. If he did the honorable thing he would go down as, perhaps, the greatest U.S. president. If he continues on his current misguided course, his legacy will be that of a president who had a chance to turn America in a new direction but lacked the moral integrity to meet the challenge.
As a side issue, this President has betrayed his loyal supporters; he has, without any shame, thrown liberals, progressives, and many independents under the bus, and, because of it, we must return the favor. It is imperative that the Democratic Party and supportive organizations immediately begin a search for a person to challenge and defeat him in the 2012 Democratic primaries. The monumental mistake millions of us made by electing him in 2008 must be rectified; he has to go. More on this in future articles.
President Obama has proven to be a facilitator of war, and, by his actions, he is orchestrating the rupture of our economy. This travesty must be ended. The young people of America must be given an opportunity for a good life with a decent job, just like most of us have experienced. They should not be reduced to merely being pawns and cannon fodder in America's endless agenda of wars. Our states are dying; they must be saved. Mr. Obama, you are recruiting for the wrong cause; stop the recruiting for perpetual war and start recruiting workers to rebuild America.
