Here's an infograph promoting Obama, floating around facebook and the web and emails that is, in my mind, misleading on a number of fronts.

Here it is summarized in text form:

Jan 2009                                  today

7949          The Dow                  16, 459
7.8%          Unemployment           6.7%
-5.4%          GDP Growth               4.1%
9.8%           Deficit GDP                3.3%

37.7%           Consumer confidence  78.1%

While I voted for Obama in 2008, I've come to see him as a neoliberal, worse than Clinton and don't want to give him credit where it's not due. And actually, these stats further indict him as a corporatist who has been bad for the 99%.

I'm no economic brainiac, but here's my take. Please comment and set me straight if I'm wrong or add more perspective and comment.

Now, the rise in the DOW mostly benefits the 1% and execs with stock options.
Unemployment is lower because less people are seeking work.
GDP is up but that is helping businesses, not the middle class.
The deficit GDP is down because of massive cuts that have hurt the middle class and poor, like cutting off unemployment and eliminating foodstamps for millions.
The last one, consumer confidence-- I don't get it.
