No news to anyone, America is in bad trouble:  -- immersed in the eleventh year of a futile war fraudulently launched and without credible promise to end -- massive and enduring unemployment -- a financial crisis that now threatens even Wall Street and the Banksters (though some of whom will extort profit from) -- an economic crisis that unprogressively results in more costly and exclusive public higher-education -- political attacks against and real threats to social programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid -- bipartisan national "leadership" that trumpets the cause of all our economic woes due to "the Debt Crisis," despite the refutation of such by every reputable economist, and which blanks out all but the most blatantly disastrous news of the War of Lies for the Oil Guys, WeaponsRus, Security Thugs Inc., etc, etc, ad nauseam.
In such times as these, the call for a president's compelling example of courage, integrity and leadership is essential.
It is a time for a Republican Lincoln's:  "...government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
It is time for a Democrat Roosevelt's:  "...This generation has a rendezvous with destiny."
What do we get from the current occupant of the White house?  We get a response to Standard & Poor's devaluation of the credit rating of the United States of America.  Yes, the same Standard & Poor who rated the financial instruments of mega-billion-buck investment banks as "Triple A" immediately before their crash and bankruptcies, and now, desperate for recovery of their reputation and future revenue opportunities, a few days ago downgraded the rating of our nation's credit to "Double A+."
What a grand opportunity for a "no comment," or perhaps at most adding a dismissive shake of the head.  After all, tigers don't contend with mice, nor for that matter with discredited redemption-seeking agencies.  But our bold President leaped right into the ratings fiasco with such as our nation has "...always been and always will be a Triple A country."
Wow, Aunt Em, how's that to perk up a crashing economy and its innocent victims!  And such is the inspiring person the electorate of the United States anointed to be the Most Powerful Person in the World?
Moving right along to the endless War of Lies for the Oil Guys, in which every successive day is an additional margin of cost in treasure and in lives and suffering to no decent benefit whatever to our nation or our citizens, the press reports that our Champion of the People -- in reference to 30 of our troops recently killed in the helicopter -- "...vowed to continue the fight."
Now, considering the contrived rationale for this disgraceful war and the mass slaughter on each side in a land 8,000 miles from Pennsylvania Avenue, and considering this disgrace to our future history now in its eleventh murderous year -- this is the kind of positioning statement that justifies no prolonged refutation and is undeserving of such.  Suffice it to say, one word of rebuttal snuffs it out.  So to the presidential proposition " continue the fight..."  that compelling rebuttal is a simple but demanding:  "WHY ?"
This writer, this ex-lifelong Democrat, is compelled to advise that this is not partisan criticism, and may God help us if we cannot find more stature  from among the adult portion of our 312 million population to better represent us with integrity, intelligence and courage.
Democrats need now to consider, no -- to decide to primary our incumbent president or to select by whatever means a different choice for election in 2012.  Despite his billion dollar PRIVATELY financed (no favors in return?) campaign fund, the chances are slim that a second term could be favored by a majority of the electorate.
We need someone else if we are to avoid such as -- May God save us! -- Michelle Bachmann or...another governor from Texas?

Leaving behind a treacherous government now addicted to perpetual war, its limitlessly greedy and power-lusting masters, as well as the retarded albeit smirky Republicans and their evermore clonish Democrat colleagues, a braindead electorate (more...)
