How Many Times Do We Just Turn Our Heads?

And Pretend That We Do Not See!

-Bob Dylan, "Blowing in the Wind"

How many times do we turn our heads indeed!?

The lyrics in the above Dylan song were written in the 60's! And, yet, even after Vietnam, the 9-11 incident, the Bush-Reagan presidencies and the ever-increasing awareness of the true government of our country, the top 1%, we continue to turn our heads?

Well, most of us, not all of us. Some of us are seeking something different. As Rob Kall writes :

I had a different idea. How much can we help people by, instead of fixing what is broken or pathological, teaching them how to move in positive directions, helping them to develop positive skills. Instead of treating symptoms, we could help them develop habits and behaviors and attitudes that would lift them, regardless of the symptoms, towards greater health, happiness, inner strength and well-being. Of course, there was and is a place for pathology oriented "treatment" of psychological problems, but people back then were not talking about positive ways to lift people towards robust health, as opposed to the mainstream model of helping people to be not ill. I had an overhead transparency that something along the lines-- Be Well, not not-sick.

Rob is on the right track. I would take this further and state that a diseased mindset took effect in human beings living in the Mesopotamian arenas where the Bible was written. This means we are deeply conditioned to our current lifestyles. This makes articles like this one hard to grasp at best and at worst violently attacked as being "off the wall" or crazy!

So who wants to claim sanity during a Koch Brothers Presidency?

Without getting into details, I would ask the reader to read http://history-world.org/neolithic.htm. This piece speaks to the historical movement from hunting/gathering cultures and the agricultural movements. This time is the foundations for who we are today. Thus, this article is a psychoanalytical attempt to capture European and Middle Eastern mentality and behavior.

This movement in human history is not always seen as positive. Nowhere is our growing collective discontent more deeply felt than Chellis Glenndenning's, My Name is Chellis and I'm in Recovery from Western Civilization.

All of us need to become Chellis and go into recovery from this insanity of destroying the environment, constant warfare, and the weeding away of the rights of the "common people" by corporations and their underling governments. These governments speak to the wishes of the corporations and not the downtrodden Joe and Jane in places like inner city Baltimore. (My hometown, which apparently is going into the same unrest that was occurring in the 60's. For more information, visit: (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/28/baltimore-protests_n_7160006.html).

Yes, Corporations have taken us backwards after all that protesting and questioning we did in the 60's. The rebellious 60's was put under control and stifled. The stifling of our power took root during the Reagan administration. It was during this time that the music switched from songs like Steppenwolf's "Monster", (which was an accounting of US history from a hippy's point of view) to the sensational crotch grabbing antics of Madonna.

"Yes, indeed: Madonna's crotch grabbing enticed deep contemplation of the human condition!"
