Evan Bayh—too handsome (hey, I am serious—that can be a political liability, Edwards and Clinton—it was the same in ancient Rome), his wife received almost $1,000,000 worth of payments last year from having questionably served on some corporate boards
Kathleen Sebelius—not as dynamic, nor as well-known as other picks, though an exciting prospect (for us women, anyway), little buzz about her equals slim chances
What if, however, the leak about the four options above were a fake-out? What if the real options have not been revealed? I have long been a fan of Michael Bloomberg as a running-mate, although that's way out of the realm of possibility at this stage. BUT, there are a couple of names who are not only possible, but would make superb and powerful running mates—both for their backgrounds and for the votes they would bring in:
Tumerica’s unrevealed short list:
General Wesley Clark—an impeccable military career, would cause a huge amount of attention to be focused on McCain's unreleased military records and somewhat questionable military career (at least parts of it were), and again, a well-respected heavy-hitter
Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico—would haul in the Hispanic vote, represents the western US better than an East-coaster, and again, is a well-respected heavy-hitter
Whom do you want for Obama's VP pick?

I think you hit on the nail about the running mate cannot be too attractive. It does weigh down the actual presidental canidate. I know that was a great deal of talk about Kerry/Edwards ticket.
Definitely issues worth voting for Obama for . . .
. . . as noted in your Vblog, but the question here is, whom would you like to see as his running mate? Can you recommend someone who would help Obama on the topics you are concerned with?
Thank you,
Tum

Wesley Clark was my choice from the onset, even before Obama received the delegates necessary to earn him the Demoncratic nomination for President. General Clark is a West Point graduate and highly revered by those he commanded. He brings in the Military dynamic that Obama lacks.

I too would love to see Clark as the VP pick--not just because he has an impeccable background, and would bring military clout, but because he would most certainly call attention to McCain's weaknesses, and frankly, kick his flabby butt. It would be the kind of match-up that would ensure a juicy debating season. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I do think Bill Richardson would do nicely as well--not as much fun, but would be a winning combo.

. . . when there's been so much worth disparaging for so long. But for the common man, at least there's some hope in the Obama camp. Certainly, the damage that's been done to the economy, the peace of the globe, the privacy of the everyday citizen--has been so great in the past eight years, that I am just not buying arguments that both sides are the same. I heard that one eight years ago, too. Both sides have puppet strings but each side governs extremely differently.

Why does Obama has to pick his running mate first? Doesn't that give McCain an unfair advantage? Didn't the same thing also happen with Kerry? (DNC convention came first I believe.) This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Can somebody help it make sense?

Okay, obviously that was dumb. Bush wasn't going to change his running mate. But how often does it go down like this? Anybody know? Is it mostly even? Who makes these decisions and is there good reason?
