Golden reflection upon the Gulf of Mexico by Photobucket commons

"We are a humble letter, a single syllable, one word out of a gigantic Odyssey. We are immersed in an enormous song and we shine like humble pebbles as long as they remain immersed in the sea." - from The Saviors of God by Nikos Kazantzakis

*********
Right now an enormous song is trying to manifest out of the chaos, despair and destruction in the Gulf of Mexico. The drama is not over. We must have many notes and lyrics to carry this song forward to positive fruition, no matter how many stanzas this takes.

After I posted the music video, Lament for the Gulf of Mexico, by Tina Micula the other day, I got a "hot" tip from OpEdNews member Carlos Milan to check out three more videos dedicated to the Gulf of Mexico. And they turned out to be great pieces. Then I found another great one on my own, so now I am feeling grwoing momentum by artists of to put their talents to use in saving and healing the Gulf and Gulf Coast. With musical lyrics in their throats and melodies in their hearts, the people will be moved and move into action. Keep 'em coming, everyone!

Check out these songs, everyone.

Three from Carlos:

Drill No More! by the famous Raging Grannies

Video Text:
Our nation has had the technology for more than half a century to completely free us of fossil fuels. Sadly, the oil/gas/coal industries own the politicians and buy their elections. That must change. The Albuquerque Raging Grannies urge us to switch to renewable sources of energy immediately, and stop destroying our planet.
Tune: "Blowin' in the Wind" by Bob Dylan.

If you want to sing this song at demonstrations, here are the lyrics, so you can copy and paste:

How many seas will the oil rigs destroy
How many oceans must die?
How much destruction and damage & loss
Can our poor planet survive?
How many spills must it take 'til we say
That too many life forms have died?
Now is the time to make our voices roar
We loudly demand it: DRILL NO MORE!
Cheney & Bush spent 8 years gutting rules,
Working as industry shills
Big Oil is STILL not required to comply
Or guarantee against spills
Profits have won over safety and health
Fools chanted "Drill, baby, drill!"
Now is the time to make our voices roar
We loudly demand it: DRILL NO MORE!
How many horrific oil spills before
"Drill, baby, drill" is reversed?
How many species will be made extinct
Before we care for the earth?
When will we switch to renewable power?
How much is life really worth?
Now is the time to make our voices roar
We loudly demand it: DRILL NO MORE!

BP is Creepy by the popular Kinsey Sicks

Video text:
A spooky song about BP (British Petroleum) and the "Drill, Baby, Drill" mentality from America's Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet: The Kinsey Sicks!

Oil? Crude? Well! We assure you...it's quite refined!
