Police in Los Angeles are in a tweeting frenzy of excitement about a biracial couple who have been invited to Washington D.C. as personal guests of Michelle Obama for the State of the Union Address.
"Recently, Captain Phil Tingirides, Commanding Officer of Southeast Division, and his wife, Sergeant Emada Tingirides, assigned to Operations-South Bureau, received an invitation from First Lady Michelle Obama requesting their presence at President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address at the U.S. Capitol... The Tingirides have been requested to sit in a box with First Lady Michelle Obama," the LAPD press release said.
LAPDHQ and Chief Charlie Beck both tweeted about the matter. The LAPD Press Release stated, in part,
"The men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) are proud of Captain Tingirides and Sergeant Tingirides who are in Washington D.C to attend tomorrow night's State of the Union Address. Recently, Captain Phil Tingirides, Commanding Officer of Southeast Division, and his wife, Sergeant Emada Tingirides, assigned to Operations-South Bureau, received an invitation from First Lady Michelle Obama requesting their presence at President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address at the U.S. Capitol. Captain Tingirides and Sergeant Tingirides will be recognized for the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) program; a program designed to improve the relationship between the residents of public housing communities and the LAPD.
"'The recognition given by the President of the United States to a community engagement program like CSP, speaks volumes about the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department. Lastly, it's been noted that guests to the State of the Union Address usually symbolize key points of President Obama's speech. The Tingirides have been requested to sit in a box with First Lady Michelle Obama."
On December 16th the LAPD announced their plan to equip every officer with a lapel body-cam, for the safety and accountability of officers to the public. The Dept. is holding public meetings on the matter and even issued a public-opinion poll on their website. Police Chief Charlie Beck claims to want to hear from the people and to heal generation-old conflicts and distrust that exists between police and people in the communities.
The LAPD's '2014 Year-End Crime Snapshot' states "This year, we plan to expand programs that have been described as 'relationship policing.' These programs have proven successful in bridging the gap between the police and the people we serve and protect. We are investing in long-term relationship building to break down generational divides between communities and their police officers."
However, just two weeks ago LAPD arrested two peaceful black women who were concerned about police violence and had come to the department headquarters to deliver a letter to the Chief Beck. The LAPD responded by putting up barricades, barring their entrance, and having dozens of armed cops with bullet-proof vests block the doors. They then arrested the both women. One officer even reached for his gun when the woman's young black 10-year-old son got upset!
On Friday January 16th, LAPD arrested a woman who was filming the police in West Hollywood. She remains jailed today and is reporting that they are violating her civil rights. Her arraignment is scheduled for this morning (1/20/15.)
The LAPD has announced that all officers will receive training from the "Museum of Tolerance" throughout 2015. I guess their brand of tolerance only applies to Israeli-trained cops and indoctrinated schoolkids, as opposed to regular citizens and black mothers from the community who have the nerve to want to share their concerns with Chief Beck. This is probably why the LAPD treats the community like the Israelis treat Palestinians. In reality the LAPD is too busy starting riots and fleecing the public through illegal traffic-ticket quotas to care about the community.
The former LAPD Chief, William Bratton, is an admitted Freemason. Thus, the LAPD has told residents "Get a dog, buy door locks & take a YMCA class, but ditch your guns." They have also told residents to "TURN IN YOUR GUNS at the Masonic Temple in Los Angeles for years now. Just last month, when the LAPD was doing Urban Military Training Drills training drills with U.S. Marines, they once again told residents to go get disarmed at the gun buyback, once again held at the Masonic Lodge.
Let the people not forget the many real problems that the LAPD continues to have, as the agency is lauded by the President tonight.
