It appears the Right is (again!) trying to resurrect this cult of personality with Reagan, along with their bankrupt ideologies.
Too bad they don't also tell you that this entire mess we have now started with Reagan, who was manoevered into office by the Neocons AKA Poppy Bush and his CIA , by their traitorous deal with the Iranians to KEEP the American hostages until just after Carter lost the election ~on grounds he was "Soft", of course ( indications are that the attempted rescue was sabotaged by these very forces...probably in concert with the Israelis!).
And "Smaller government"?
The only thing that got smaller during Reagan (besides peoples' minds) was public services for the taxpayer. Instead, all our money, and then on into deficts not seen until GW, went to outspending the Russians on War and war machines (and it's never stopped!)....and of course, the Rich, who were supposed to "trickle" some down on the rest of us! Voodoo economics, indeed, and we see where it's gotten US!
Reagan was nothing more than the affable Figurehead, or Faceman, for the further installation of the Bush Crime Family, all the ginning-up of the Military Industrial Complex and most of what we have suffered at their hands the past 8 years and more.
Maybe they knew this when they accepted the excuse of "Do not Recall" for the Iran/Contra scandal, which was certainly more impeachable than, say, a blow job, but anyway, there's another really good reason (besides Sara Palin) to not ever pick such an old geezer as McCain for president! When he screws up he can conveniently just "Not Recall".
Aren't we tired of no accountability yet?
RIP already Ronnie, and let these destructive myths finally die with you!
