Message to President Shimon Peres and The You Tube Nation

"This is a time when there seems to be a particular need for men of philosophical persuasion--that is to say, friends of wisdom and truth--to join together"We Jews should be, and remain, the carriers and patrons of spiritual values. But we should also always be aware of the fact that these spiritual values are and always have been the common goal of mankind."-
Einstein, Later Years, pg. 268

When I first learned President Shimon Peres had a You Tube Channel, I immediately offered my friendship, subscribed and began sending him messages and usually attaching this 90 second excerpt from "30 Minutes with Vanunu"

Vanunu's Message to Hillary Clinton re: The Apartheid Wall

Today, I learned that on President Peres's

Speech to German Bundestag (Parliament) on Holocaust Remembrance Day (Highlights)

Peres

The comments I made on my 56th birthday were published:

Dear Pres. Peres,

Jan. 27 was my birthday and i FEEL it a gift that you spoke on it RE: The Jewish Holocaust because my maternal Grandfather was a Polish Jew who died before_ I could learn how many of our relatives were gassed and fried because good people did NOTHING for too very long.

My heart is also broken over the other 5+MILLION more who were deemed 'outcasts' and terrorized and murdered by the 3rd Reich's IDEOLOGY of SUPREMACY of a particular religion and people.

Dear President Peres,

Jan. 27 was my 56th Birthday!
I keep hoping you will accept me as a You Tube FRIEND, because "HOPE has two children. The first is ANGER at the way things are. The second is COURAGE to DO SOMETHING about it."-St. Augustine

In June 2005, during my first of seven trips to Israel Palestine, I began a series of interviews with Mordechai Vanunu and I told him how I felt called to tell his story to America, because the US Media has not been doing it.

In 1963, Peres was Israel's Deputy Minister of Defense and he met with President Kennedy in the White House.

Kennedy told Peres, "You know that we follow very closely the discovery of any nuclear development in the region. This could create a very dangerous situation. For this reason we monitor your nuclear effort. What could you tell me about this?"

Peres replied, "I can tell you most clearly that we will not introduce nuclear weapons to the region, and certainly we will not be the first."

In 2005, Vanunu told me:

"Did you know that President Kennedy tried to stop Israel from building atomic weapons?

"In 1963, he forced Prime Minister Ben Guirion to admit the Dimona was not a textile plant, as the sign outside proclaimed, but a nuclear plant. The Prime Minister said, "The nuclear reactor is only for peace.'

"Kennedy insisted on an open internal inspection. He wrote letters demanding that Ben Guirion open up the Dimona for inspection.

"The French were responsible for the actual building of the Dimona.

"The Germans gave the money; they were feeling guilty for the Holocaust, and tried to pay their way out. Everything inside was written in French, when I was there, almost twenty years ago.

"Back then, the Dimona descended seven floors underground. In 1955, Perez and Guirion met with the French to agree they would get a nuclear reactor if they fought against Egypt to control the Sinai and Suez Canal. That was the war of 1956. Eisenhower demanded that Israel leave the Sinai, but the reactor plant deal continued on.

"When Johnson became president, he made an agreement with Israel that two senators would come every year to inspect. Before the senators would visit, the Israelis would build a wall to block the underground elevators and stairways. From 1963 to '69, the senators came, but they never knew about the wall that hid the rest of the Dimona from them.

"Nixon stopped the inspections and agreed to ignore the situation. As a result, Israel increased production. In 1986, there were over two hundred bombs. Today, they may have enough plutonium for ten bombs a year."

Two days ago, Vanunu posted this comment on my You Tube Channel homepage:

BROADCAST YOUR SELF--VERY GOOD TO SEE THAT EILEEN FOUND THE RIGHT WAY TO_ USE "YOU TUBE", THAT IS YOUR REAL "calling", BROADCAST YOUR SELF.

I have many callings, and today I began calling on The You Tube Nation to offer President Peres their friendship, to subscribe to his channel and send him a message to Free Vanunu!

You should know that in 2004,Uri Avnery, an Irgun veteran who evolved into an Israeli peace activist wrote in Haaretz:

"Everybody understands that he [Vanunu] has no more secrets. What can a technician know after 18 years in jail, during which technology has advanced with giant steps?

"But gradually it becomes clear what the security establishment is really afraid of. Vanunu is in a position to expose the close partnership with the United States in the development of Israel's nuclear armaments.

"This worries Washington so much, that the man responsible in the State Department for "arms control', Under-Secretary John Bolton, has come to Israel in person for the occasion. Vanunu, it appears, can cause severe damage to the mighty super-power.

"The Americans, it seems, are very worried. The Israeli security services have to dance to their tune. The world must be prevented by all available means from hearing, from the lips of a credible witness, that the Americans are full partners in Israel's nuclear arms program, while pretending to be the world's sheriff for the prevention of nuclear proliferation."

On April 5, 2009, President Obama raised the hopes of millions with his promises in Prague:

"We are here today because enough people ignored the voices who told them that the world could not change. We're here today because of the courage of those who stood up and took risks to say that freedom is a right for all people, no matter what side of a wall they live on, and no matter what they look like. We are here today because the simple and principled pursuit of liberty and opportunity shamed those who relied on the power of tanks and arms to put down the will of a people.

"Some argue that the spread of these weapons cannot be stopped, cannot be checked - that we are destined to live in a world where more nations and more people possess the ultimate tools of destruction. Such fatalism is a deadly adversary, for if we believe that the spread of nuclear weapons is inevitable, then in some way we are admitting to ourselves that the use of nuclear weapons is inevitable.

"As the only nuclear power to have used a nuclear weapon, the United States has a moral responsibility to act"It will take patience and persistence. But now we, too, must ignore the voices who tell us that the world cannot change. We have to insist, 'Yes, we can.'

"There is violence and injustice in our world that must be confronted. We must confront it by standing together as free nations, as free people. I know that a call to arms can stir the souls of men and women more than a call to lay them down. But that is why the voices for peace and progress must be raised together.

"Let us honor our past by reaching for a better future. Let us bridge our divisions, build upon our hopes, and accept our responsibility to leave this world more prosperous and more peaceful than we found it. Together we can do it.

"Words must mean something [and] violence and injustice must be confronted by standing together as free nations, as free people"[and] Human destiny will be what we make of it."

While campaigning, Obama once admitted that if we took the Sermon on the Mount seriously, it would lead to the abolishment of the Industrial Military Complex and as Dorothy Day noted, "Our problems stem from our acceptance of this filthy, rotten system" [and] Our manifesto is the Sermon on the Mount, which means that we will try to be peacemakers"not the bombardment of open cities"not killing."

"We live in a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants, in a world that has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. We have solved the mystery of the atom and forgotten the lessons of the Sermon on The Mount. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about dying than we know about living."- General Omar Nelson Bradley, Armistice Day, 1948.

"You cannot talk like sane men around a peace table while the atomic bomb itself is ticking beneath it. Do not treat the atomic bomb as a weapon of offense; do not treat it as an instrument of the police. Treat the bomb for what it is: the visible insanity of a civilization that has ceased...to obey the laws of life."- Lewis Mumford, 1946

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, and the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."-Dwight D. Eisenhower, April 16, 1953

"The duty of the Christian at this time is to do the one task God has imposed upon us in this world today. The task is to work for the total abolition of war. There can be no question that unless war is abolished; the world will remain constantly in a state of madness"The church [meaning all Christians] must lead the way on the road to the abolition of war"Peace is to be preached and nonviolence is to be explained and practiced"It is the great Christian task of our time. Everything else is secondary, for the survival of the human race itself depends upon it."- Thomas Merton
