The cuts that were to take effect on July 1st for cuts in Medicare paymements in sevices to Doctors were delayed again as you may know. The House voted 355 to 59 for further delay but the Senate voted one vote short last week.
On Monday the Bush administration said it would not process payments for the first 10 days of month to give the Congress time to prevent the reduction.
This is being done as a result of overwhelming opposition to the cuts by the doctors.

I totally support NOT cutting payments to physicians and hospitals; they are receiving what surely are the lowest payments from Medicare as compared to other insurance systems. If they pull out of Medicare, we the millions enjoying Medicare benefits will suffer greatly.

The government is killing us slowly but surely. Cuts in most social programs, cuts in benefits, cuts in payments, cuts callously designed to restrict access to health care--undeniably, a death sentence for those of us who depend on social programs for our well-being and our very survival.
The Chinese used to employ a similar method to kill people--an agonizing, slow method of execution called "death of a thousand cuts".

My understanding is that the very successful Taiwanese health-care plan was based on our own Medicare, the best model they could find! It would seem that the best solution to our own dismal medical system would be simply to expand Medicare incrementally until all of our citizens are included. "Insurance coverage" is NOT the same as "medical care."
