Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain were not the only presidential candidates to visit New York City this September 11th.

Green Party Presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney was there also, and she used the occasion to call for an investigation into the events that led to the deaths of nearly three thousand people that day.

At a press conference with the organizers of a NYC ballot initiative calling for an independent investigation of 9/11, McKinney pointed out that the administration lied repeatedly in the lead-up to the Iraq war.

"If they would do it just a few years ago, why wouldn't they do it today?" she asked.

Referring to the moments of silence being observed throughout the city by public officials, she said "we are sick and tired of seven years of silence and now it's about time that we had the truth."
