In the past he has made mistakes, either not knowing or forgetting, such as his statements of the Iraq-Pakistan border, the Sunni – Shite relationship, and a host of shots he has made at Obama, but this “mistake” either a lie or is nothing more than part of the neocon mantra aimed at misinforming the public.

He has now come out against affirmative action because he is against quotas. First, the regulations specifically state that quotas are illegal. Second, the Supreme Court also stated in their decision in the Michigan University matter that quotas were illegal.

Therefore, if McCain is against quotas he has to favor, not reject, affirmative action.

Further, not all employers are bound by affirmative action as it is intended for those who receive federal funds or deal with dispensing of money, such as banks. Federal Contractors also must have over 50 employees and receive more than $50,000.00 annually from the federal government.

If they fall under the umbrella where they have to follow the affirmative action regulations they are then required to hire, transfer, and/or promote based on qualifications only. It would seem if an employer would function strictly on the regulations of affirmative action they would have the most qualified group of employees their recruitment efforts could deliver.

Maybe McCain is proving he in fact isn't the most qualified.
