We have to look at our energy policies with future generations in mind. The Bush / Cheney administration has bankrupted this country. They did nothing to address America’s dependence on foreign oil. Their reckless spending, preemptive war, and war profiteering by the friends of this administration, has put America in debt so far who knows how long it will take to recover.

As I watched CNN Sunday September 14, 2008, as Thomas L Friedman the author of the book Hot, Flat, and Crowded on the Fareed Zakaria show,  explained what America must realize, the McCain / Palin ticket will be a bridge to the 19th Century.

He said that we must make energy technology the most important issue for our future. His example was that when Cellular phones came out we said Bob I can give you this technology and it will change your life and the phone was $1,000 Bob said ok I’ll take ten and they did change Bob’s life. Then Bob’s business associates saw what this did and they bought ten and the price went down until the price was $100 per phone.

Where we will get resistance to change in energy technology is that we are now going say hey Bob I can keep that light on with solar energy but its going to cost $50 more a month. Bob says hey I already have my lights why do I need your solar energy.

This is where we need progressive leadership and long-term goals. In the 19th century no one could have imagined we would ever need to buy oil from the foreign suppliers taking American dollars and enriching the kings and dictators of the Middle East

Now however with India and China in competition for the same resources we must become the leader in energy technology or fall behind and enrich Kings and Dictators in the Middle East.

Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin no matter how much we drill baby drill, we still only have a relatively small amount of the of the planets oil reserve. So if we do not mandate through government regulation policies that will make us free of our huge appetite for foreign oil, we will become a second rate nation by the end of this century or sooner.

Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin, A society only grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.

With your shortsighted policies and divisive campaign rhetoric my children and grand children will never know the greatness American was and could be again. Only with real change and not just more the McSame and pit bulls with lipstick will we endure.

America must reject your bridge to the 19th century the real bridge to nowhere, and blaze an enduring future for America

Peace and Liberty through intelligence, strength and integrity.
