Lord, Give Me the Strength to Stand

For I am weak from the weight of this great moment which has been cast down upon this nation. My eyes are pouring with tears of joy and my heart now has a new song. The baton has been passed from Martin to Barack and I’m grateful that I’ve lived to see this great moment. Now I too can say just like Martin did so many years ago that I’ve seen the mountain top, we’ve all seen the mountain top where unity can exist and a new day is around the corner.

Great words were spoken on this memorable day which held deep meaning and conviction from President Obama and there were times I could feel the power of the ancestors driving them. I’m grateful you have given this nation a President who is mindful of the human family and can see the bigger picture. The road ahead will be bumpy and his leadership will indeed be tested but his successes will not be cut and dry, instead his success will be measured by how great and deep the transition that must take us to our new destiny.

As you have shown me, the bond has been set between the people and the new President that is tight so that one will not be able to fall without the other. Here are the steady hands which must hold the nation as she falls and pulls her up when she must rise again.
