I woke up this morning at exactly 3:37 a.m. in a cold sweat. I had a dream about Gov. Rick Perry of Texas that was right out of Stephen King's the "Dead Zone". Call it a dream or a nightmare or a premonition, but I dreamt he started catching on with all the conservatives, not just the tea-party crowd. With the backing of moderate conservatives and independents, President Obama is dead meat and the thing is, it could actually happen. Just like the other Dufus from Texas, with enough money and a campaign of slick commercials and maybe even his own staff of swift-boaters, it could very well happen. I am still shaking.

Yesterday, in a special election for a congressional seat in New York that had been in democratic hands for over 90 years in a district that Obama won in a landslide, radical republican Bob Turner, who is so conservative he brought Rush Limbaugh to the television screen,  was elected to the Congress of these United States.  Rep Turner is, or was, the former president of a television production company called Multimedia Entertainment, and even though Rush's show only lasted a few years, to give a man like Rush Limbaugh carte blanche' over a TV show that reached millions of people everyday is just as bad as Fox doing the same thing with Glenn Beck.

Elected to replace Anthony Weiner, who resigned in June after using Twitter to send naked pictures of himself to several women, this was not so much a referendum on Weiner than it was Obama. Obama lost the Jewish vote for his stand on the Israel/Palestinian situation and the rest of the vote on his economic policies, if he has any. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus tweeted "Tonight the voters overwhelmingly rejected the Obama agenda", and the thing is, it all true. The Democrats also lost another congressional seat, but I'm too lazy to look it up at the moment.

Bob Turner's company created the "Jerry Springer Show", what does that tell you? Springer set the taste in television programming back 20 years, and at one time, the KKK  and the anti-KKK forces actually had a fight on the show, throwing chairs and punches. The FCC, if I remember correctly, banned fighting on Jerry Springer's show. He just hired a bunch of bodyguards to break-up the fights and the show went on, and may still be on, I don't know. Is this what the American people want? These are the type of people American's want to run this country? If so, Perry is a shoo-in!

When I watched the republican debate the other night and people in the tea-party, who were invited to be the audience by CNN, who I really think are trying to play in the same pig pen as Fox, started clapping over letting a man die who had no insurance, I knew then that this country is not just going through with a "throw all the bums out" philosophy, but some are actually wanting to kill all entitlements that help their fellow man and replace them with the homeless and disenfranchised actually dying in the streets. What has become of this country?

We are actually becoming a Reality-Based Country, where people think that this is some kind of game where the strongest win and get rewarded with some type of prize. Which brings me back to Gov. Perry. In the Dead Zone, a man who had been in a coma for years finally awakens and can see into the future when he touches someone. When he's in a line shaking a politicians hand, he sees this man as the President of the United States who is on the verge of launching Nuclear Weapons and destroying the world. He has to stop him, somehow.

Of course, with the great Steven King, the guy saves the day by embarrassing the guy in front of the press, and the man is not elected. I don't think you can embarrass a man like Perry. He openly takes bribes from lobbyists and gives out multi-billion dollar contracts, and people see it and do not care. When asked a question about Afghanistan at the debate, he gave an answer that still has foreign policy experts trying to figure out what he said. All I'm trying to say is, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he will be our next president. In all honesty, if Obama doesn't get the economy at least limping along, it's probably a 50/50 chance. In King's book, the hero dies after saving the world from a maniac. Any takers?
