The electorate is being played. No more Mr. Nice Guy and Gal. It's time to take hostages, even in our own party.

We overwhelmingly voted for Democrats because we wanted change we could believe in. "We can do it" turned into "We did it." We have a huge majority in the House, a bulletproof sixty seats in the Senate, our man in White House and, apparently...

...the inability of all of the above to take action against the Big Medicine cartel.

As I suspected back on July 2, 2009 in Excuse me, but is that change backpedaling, the Obama Administration is backing down when confronted with the $1.4 million dollar per day Big Medicine lobby "buy America plan" that put Republicans, of course, but also plenty of Democrats in their pocket. Good public policy be damned. If this is not the definition of fascism, I don't know what is.

The town hall meeting ruckuses, the disinformation and the boiling over of the right wing hatred stew is all one big straw dog. Bipartisanship is dead, buried and should quickly be forgotten.

Good medicine is good medicine. Let's yank open their jaws and shove it down their throats. Don't flinch at the coughing and spitting up of blood. We are trying to save ourselves. They'll get over the bad taste soon enough.

To that end I am proposing that we figuratively kidnap and hold certain Democrats for ransom. Purpose: force all of them to push every other Democrat off the fence, hold feet to the fire, and get real healthcare reform.

Act locally. I don't know every state, but I can lay out a strategy for my beloved New Jersey.

I am proposing we take Governor Corzine "hostage". Ransom: pass real healthcare reform, or it's curtains for the Wall Street chump turned populist in the November election this year.

President Obama is supporting our governor in his reelection bid. The right-wing would love this contest to be a referendum on the administration's first year.

We can do them one better; we can eat our own. We can have Corzine go down not in a right-wing backlash, but as repudiation to Democrats for failing to push the progressive agenda.

In New Jersey, we have the option of voting for a third party candidate, who is really just another Republican that can't win, or not voting at all.

In Virginia, I would suggest Democrats promise to sit out the Deeds vs. McDonnell contest.

Governors! Who cares? How much damage can a governor do to the progressive agenda? Not much. We all know the action is in the Beltway.

So, why let the right-wing claim they won any given local race when we can claim we're just putting our own house in order.
