In Operation Defensive Shield in 2002, the Israeli military was accused of conducting a massacre in Jenin, despite the fact that it lost numerous soldiers by painstakingly hunting down terrorists rather than simply leveling the place. Then the inconvenient truth emerged afterward - there had been no massacre.

But as with all such libels, the damage had already been done.

So now, in Gaza, Israel has been accused of massacring Palestinians in a fit of disproportionate violence. Ask yourself one question though - Gaza is a small area densely packed with over a million people - the IDF attacks it for three weeks, and there are less than 1,500 people killed - does that sound like a massacre?

And now that the fighting is over - perhaps only temporarily, as there are widespread reports of Hamas trying to recommence its smuggling operations, etc. - take a look at this article by an Italian journalist and see what this says - very interesting, and directly contrary to the frenzy of anti-Israel condemnation in the media - click here

Born, raised, educated and still living in Nova Scotia. Very strong, but not blind, supporter of Israel - interested in legitimate debate about any issues, but my focus is primarily on events in Middle East - not much time for much else. (more...)
