It is time for America to get pissed off at John McCain

Tell A Friend

Does everyone remember that financial-nuclear missile that I eluded to in a previous piece?  As I just logged onto the NY Times web site, in my not so learned opinion, we are about to get hit and hit hard again tomorrow even after our own stock market plunged to new lows today.  On Thursday the DOW sunk by 678 points going below the 9,000 mark for the first time since 2003.  As this financial-nuclear missile travels towards us, I am not shaking in fear but raising my fist in abject anger.

The NY Times reports, “Japan stocks plunged, dragging the Nikkei 225 average down 11 percent and leading to a suspension of futures trading.” And the “The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong was down about 8 percent to 14,675.53.”

It just gets better and I use that term sarcastically when the NY Times also reports, “In Australia, the Standard and Poor’s/Australian Stock Exchange 200 index dropped another 6.6 percent. The benchmark index in South Korea fell nearly 8 percent and Singapore dropped more than 6.7 percent.”

For several years a good friend of mine, John Schwam who runs the site LiberalPatriot.org and I have discussed: When will Americans get it and strike back?  We originally forged a friendship and even took part in the February 15th, 2003 anti-war rally that took place in New York City.  America, aren’t you so sick and tired of living in fear?  Psychologically after fear comes anger and if we are not going to take our anger to the streets as some countries do, we must take that angers in numbers never seen before to the polls and punish the Republican Party who have been in control for a majority of these past eight years.  We must make the Republican own this financial disaster.  We must make John McCain pay for this cataclysmic disaster.

As the stock market plummeted on Thursday exactly what message was John McCain sending out to those gathered at his rallies?  He was bringing up Bill Ayers who Barack Obama crossed paths with as he served on a board.  He negated totally what happened on Wall Street, which affects each and everyone of us living in America.  Well, America, it is about time to show John McCain and Sarah Palin that we Americans are pissed off!

As he tries to use an air of mystery asking who Barack Obama is we must remember that this Bush administration has been one cloaked in mystery.  For that we must get pissed off.

We were lied into the Iraq War where billions-upon-billions have been spent that could have been used right here at home and it is about time that we Americans get pissed off.

Over 4,000 U.S. troops have lost their lives and countless come home maimed for life, so get pissed off at the Republican Party and John McCain.

Without complete congressional hearings, Patriot Acts One and Two were shoved down our throats under a Republican administration and we as Americans must get pissed off.

Without complete congressional hearings the Military Commissions Act of 2006 was also shoved down our throats and we must get pissed off.

Our fellow Americans have lost their jobs in great numbers during this Republican administration and for that we must get pissed off.

Millions still go without healthcare in this country and according to Paul Krugman of the NY Times he estimates under the McCain healthcare plan 20 million more will be added.  So we as Americans must get pissed off.

General Motors which is as American as they come may go bankrupt as reported on Thursday when their stocks fell to all time lows and for that we must get pissed off.

I have heard of the Bradley affect when it comes to people not willing to vote for an African-American and I am strongly urging all who may do that to put our country first and get pissed off at this Republican Party.  Barack Obama did not cause the misery you may be feeling due to this abysmal stock market.  Lay the blame squarely on George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and yes, John McCain.  So, get pissed off.

America was born out of revolutionaries and it is about time we act as such.  We must declare our own Declaration of Independence from the Republicans on Election Day.  We must tell them that we are pissed off and we are not going to take it anymore.

Those people you see gathered at McCain rallies are not the true fabric of Americana, they are the base of his party he and Sarah Palin are speaking to.  For those independents and moderate Republicans for once in your life if take a good look at your food bills, and your utility bills.  Take a look at your heating bills, how much it is costing you to heat your home and fill your gas tanks and if you’re lucky to have stocks take a good look at how they have plummeted and been wiped out and then get pissed off at John McCain.

Why, Mary, "sarcastically"?

"It just gets better and I use that term sarcastically."

You must be one of those folks who's been intending to vote all along.

Well, I've begun to consider voting myself.  No.  Check that.  I've begun to consider emailing my ex-email buddy, Glen Ford of Black Agenda Report, and propose to him: If you hold your nose and vote for Obama on Nov 4, I'll go and do likewise.

Ticket to fascism

I fully concur.

Another thing is clear from what one can read on this site:  McCain/Palin are taking us further down the road to fascism started with GWB eight years ago. Way further, to full fledged fascism, including persecution and murder of political ennemies and undesirable racial elements.

To those who plan to vote indie, or not vote at all: McCain looks more and more like a fascist, and Palin is certifiably a racist, a religious fanatic  and a fascist. Do you really want to put those two far right lunatics  in the White House? Obama may be a lackey of capitalism, he might not be the perfect progressive, but he is not a fascist, nor obviously a racist. He is also a mentally and physically sane individual who has shown he can stay calm and composed under pressure.

It's not like we can act like spoiled brats and decide ''I want a true progressive or nothing at all"; voting Obama is the only way to stop the complete fascisation of America, the only way (besides general strike and taking to the streets) to prevent these two very dangerous individuals to lead the country directly to "Germany 1933 redux".

In the 30s, German far left parties adamantly refused to vote for moderate mainstream parties that had enough mass appeal to get democratic leaders elected when those leaders ran against nazis in local and national elections. When these far left voters realized it was a major strategic mistake, it was too late.

So, indies and breatharians, hold your nose and vote for somebody who CAN be elected so that we don't end up with these two ticking bombs at the helm.

My wife and I are pissed off

We are angry at our representatives in government for ignoring the will of the voters in favor of returning favors from corporate lobbiests (bribes) to the corporations they represent.

Our representational form of government is based on the simple idea that we the people are given truth from the media so we can make intelligent choices and armed with the truth we can elect representatives who work for the common good and not for just for the rich and powerful or for their own enrichment.

Our government has allowed big corporations to buy all the main stream media outlets and that allows the rich and powerful to control what the people see and hear; to shape public opinion for their own benefit instead of giving truth and understanding.

Our government has ruled that corporations have the same rights as individuals; and that allowed them to use their big $$$ to legally influence our elected representatives (included outright bribary).  This action has undermined the very foundation of democracy.

Under King George of Texas our government is waging a war to gain control over the oil resources of a nation that did not attack the USA instead of leading an all out effort to switch our nation from the use of fossil fuels to clean alternatives because he is on oil man.  The public knows we should make this switch; but our representatives support big oil and go along with Bush.  Scientists tell us that we need to stop using fossil fuels to save our planet from the catastrophy that will result from global warming; but our president tries to change the scientific reports to distort their conclusions.

The american people want the congress to change our health care system so that people can get the help they need but can not afford; but the lobbiests for health insurance companies and drug companies use their $$$ to keep their profits up.

Polls show that we the people are angry; but big $$$ has so much influence that our representatives ignore the American people.   Frankly my wife and I are angry at both political parties for turning their back on we the people.

Now that America and the world are in a financial crisis and we are holding elections for someone to lead our nation I have a slim hope that those elected will awaken to the reality of what has happened to our nation and will begin to put the welfare of we the people ahead of corporate greed.

I will vote for Obama because he seems to recognize that the prosperity of our nation and its' people depends on reversing the policies that favor only the rich and powerful.

I am a retired opera singer. I was a leading soprano with the New York City Opera for ten years. I am a strong supporter of Dennis Kucinich and worked for his campaign in 2004. I believe that he is the ONLY honest man in congress. He has been working against this insane war since before it began. I am 72 years old and I have been so frustrated with the media, the Congress and the American people that they don't tell the truth.

All of this and more - Lobbyists must go!!!!

Perhaps if our congress people didn't have lobbyists' money dangled under their  noses they wouldn't be so tempted to vote for the wrong side of every issue. It's difficult, I know, to refuse all that money but remember that these people took an oath to uphold the Constitution. If they accept bribes, yes, the only word is bribes, they are crooks. Period. And should be drummed out of office. Lets start fresh with people who would actually abide by their oaths.

Go, Cindy Sheehan, you can do it. If I lived in California I would be so happy to vote for Cindy and get rid of traitor Pelosi who has abandoned her oath time and time again. I'm pissed off and everybody I know is pissed off.
