WILLIAM WILMINGTON, GOVERNMENT RECORD HOST: Tonight, on this New Year’s Eve, Israel stood up to Hamas today and declined to make a ceasefire agreement.
You won’t want to miss footage of Israel’s new tanks that look like something out of a science fiction movie. The tanks explode missiles before they reach their targets. It’s a stunning development in weapon technology, one you won’t want to miss.
And, remember Cynthia McKinney? She’s the woman who, while in Congress, struck a Capitol Police officer. She believed in conspiracies surrounding the 9/11 attacks and she went on a boat to Gaza. We’ll have Robert Robertson with us from the Good Foreign Policy Institution to talk about this move and what it could mean for civilians in Gaza.

KAREN QUIGLEY, GOVERNMENT REPORT CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): In the rubble of Gaza, a child dead. In the hospital, a family grieves. In the street, a mother holds her baby and cries. These are the scenes that Hamas has created which has led to the erupting violence in Gaza.
EHUD BARAK, DEFENSE MINISTER: Hamas is responsible for the massive bloodshed and loss of life which people are seeing images of on monitor screens. Their primitive weaponry, while no match for our state-of-the art technology developed with taxpayer dollars from people who do not live in this country, is directly causing innocents to suffer vicious bombardments of their homes.
QUIGLEY: Barak walked the press through the images being shown worldwide explaining each detail and how Hamas is to blame for all of it.
BARAK: Hamas operates from inside population concentrations and keeps explosive devices in civilian areas. While military could take out simply those who are spotted with rockets, Israelis do not deserve to have what is like lethal spit balls shot at them when they are trying to live peacefully. That those without power like us would challenge our dominion ---Well, you would stand up to this insult and do the same if it were your country.
QUIGLEY: No one from the White House or Obama’s transition was available for comment. However, the White House Public Relations team released this statement.
“How would you like it if you were eating your dinner with family and a rocket intruded on what you may consider a precious moment of your day? As you can see, Hamas has inflamed the Israelis and until Hamas is cured and stopped from wiping Israel off the map we will support moves to create an environment where Israeli children can be safe and eat their food and sleep in their beds at night in peace.”
