Idol -- Moloch by Peter J. Fast

Killing another's child to assuage the rage, horrible grief and depression associated with the murder of one of your own is a form of mental illness. Victims of abuse, violence, the psychic childhood trauma associated with ADD, Dyslexia and other behavioral and learning disabilities all have to overcome the common hurdle of falling into the trap of "Servicing the Dysfunction".

The State of Israel is currently deep in the throes of "Servicing the Dysfunction". In its service to the tragic past of its people and "Never Again", Israel is a nation of mentally ill warriors. To willfully destroy the beautiful and cherished lives of innocent Palestinians as a panacea for your own tragic loss is, although common, crazy. I know that this issue is very deep and very complicated. I know that Israelis are not completely safe in their homes. But history, especially our recent history, teaches the same lesson over and over again -- blind, nationalistic acts of retribution that kill innocents will inevitably lead to an evermore escalating cycle of violence with more dead innocents and destruction on the side of the vengeful and, as my own personal experience has shown, actors so committed to and immersed in "Servicing the Dysfunction" that they end up destroying the ones and things closest to them. To work at destroying yourself and the things you love is crazy. However, some of our neighbors work assiduously at it every day.

Servicing the dysfunction is, very simply, defining yourself and reacting to situations based on a wrong done to you in the past. It is extraordinarily easy for a victim to slavishly become a toady and foot soldier in service to the crime -- victims can unwittingly become a lady-in-waiting or manservant: an attendant to the shrine of abuse or dysfunction. The qualifications for the job are simple: consistently basing one's actions and choices on one's past victimization without regard to the personal consequences. These folks spend their lives in service to the dysfunction. I have met many of them.

One of the key indicators of someone afflicted with this disorder is: demanding respect but showing none to others -- everyone becomes a potential assailant or victimizer. This makes life very simple for the victim. One never has to be troubled with pesky, complicated empathy. My abuse or wrong is always bigger and more important than yours -- although I was beaten as a kid I can strike out at you with impunity if I perceive a threat because I was hit harder than you were; no matter that the consequences of this may possibly cause me to lose something important to me -- "I'm a victim god***it, don't you understand!" To fail to see your actions as the cause of your loss or your suffering is crazy.

In Israel and Palestine today Hitler, Eichmann and all the rest are walking triumphant as is Osama Bin Laden in America. What greater honor can one show a monster than to worship at the same destructive alter as they? In a world obsessed with winning and losing, this scenario is even more schizophrenic, crazy -- NO ONE WINS.

It's time to practice tough love with Israel and this country's Military Industrial Complex and just say no -- "Never Again".
