On Sunday, June 28, 2009, the First Vice-President of the International Criminal Court, Ms. Fatoumata Dembele Diarra (Mali) will begin her official visit to the African States Parties of Mali, Benin and Senegal.

While on her travels through the three States, it is anticipated that the First Vice-President will emphasize the central importance of implementing the Rome Statute into domestic legislation that will enable an international justice system aimed at ending impunity for the worst crimes known to humanity.

The International Criminal Court is an independent, permanent court that investigates and prosecutes persons accused of the most serious crimes of international concern: genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
