But we the people do not have to wait. We can and must demand the immediate impeachment of both Bush and Cheney for what is already known. At the very least the defiance of congressional subpoenas at the behest of the White House is an open and shut case for accountability now.
Because as his final constitutional insult, his final spit in the face to the American people and all rule of law, it is transparently obvious that Bush is planning the most wholesale and wrongful pardon of the worst political criminals in American history, his whole criminal gang, INCLUDING himself.
And don't think that is not their precise plan. Please, what power has Bush NOT abused? What heinous, self-serving, shameless and dishonest act has he ever shied away from, when he was torturing and eavesdropping and lying us into wars of corporate aggression. Does anyone doubt that is what he is planning on doing?
And when you submit this action page, you will have one last chance to get one of the "Impeach Both!!!" caps, which after January 20th will no longer be available from us for love or for money.
Will Congress now act? That is not the yardstick of the worth of our activism. We speak out because we must speak out, whether we are heeded or not. Let history record that we spoke out until the last minute to the eternal shame of those who did not. Because when enough of us speak out at once, the worst thing that can possibly happen is that we are building the progressive base for the REAL change of the future.
So Bush most certainly is planning on pardoning himself. And all the right wing lock down ideologues in the corporate controlled media will call it "healing". Let's all make nice with war criminals? Shall we all make nice with the gang rape of our economy, our environment and our Constitution? We think not.
And one more thing. You know that come January 20th the right wing will start calling for the impeachment of our new president, over a endless litany of the most ridiculous of trivial trifles. In fact it has already started even though he has not even taken office. If they are so hot on impeaching someone, let them speak out now, when it truly is called for, or shut the hell up in 73 days.

Vital not to let BushCo criminals run out the clock
It would be a travesty of justice (even more so than has already taken place) for Bush to pardon those who know "where the bodies are buried" (including himself). It is disheartening that the Dems have not pursued this but I suspect that they have their own skeletons in the closet as far as this goes and do not want to risk overturning the rocks that they are also hiding under.
Furthermore, I suspect that Israeli interests have so much dirt on US politicians across the board (from electronic eavesdropping as well as other illegal spying and surveillance operations) that the mere threat of releasing it is enough to gain compliance.
Someone within the government needs to act on principles regardless the personal cost because the American electorate have expressed their will and the US military continues rto shed blood for those principles that so many in power choose to run from.

An impeachment hearing now will go far to starting to right the wrongs of these past 8 years. It is said Pelosi does not feel there has been any criminal activity that warrants impeachment. Hello? Others say she will be implicated if hearings are conducted, if so all the more reason. The rats must be flushed out and must receive their just due.
Until hearings are held Nancy Pelosi is obstructing justice. She should be tried for that!

Although a president has unlimited pardon powers, it is highly unusual to pardon someone before trial and conviction. The best-known precedent -- following the Watergate political scandal during the Nixon administration -- was former President Ford's pardon in 1974 of former President Nixon, who was never indicted.

doubtlessly Elizabeth Holtzman (not to mention Dennis Kucinich), all pledged many moons ago to continue their impeachment efforts after Nov 4, whatever the outcomes.
In the past I've posted links to these folks websites, but I now realize that's an exercise in guaranteed frustration. People who follow the links don't bother to tell me they have. And websites contributed to by these people don't know I suggested they go there.
Go find their websites, people, and if you give a damn about holding the feet of the worst Lame Duck this country will ever see to the fire, give of thy bread. Ya hear?

Bush: "Following the tragic events of 9/11 and the war on terror forced upon us by the forces of evil (....yada yada yada) it falls to all of us to ensure that those brave officials who responded to make America safe (....yada yada yada) and stemmed the tide of Islamic terror in Iraq (....yada yada yada) should not have their loyalty to this country challenged. Accordingly, for any and all errors of judgement made by these fine Americans I issue a general pardon for all US officials assisting in the war on terror (oh, and I promise not to remind you that I am a US official). Happy holidays!

I predict Obama will pardon the villains of the Bush administration, eliminating the need for Bush to pardon himself. He will do this because he cannot afford to order his attorney general to investigate and prosecute any crimes committed by the Bush administration because this would prevent any ability to work with Republicans for the duration of his administration. It would also divide the country at a time he is trying to heal its wounds.
His pardon will only apply, however, to federal crimes, and state prosecutors can still proceed with prosecutions based upon state statutes. Additionally, war crimes are still actionable in the International Criminal Court at the Hague, which has already found that war crimes have occurred during the war in Iraq, but found them inadequate to invoke its jurisdiction. Once Bush leaves office, information may surface that causes the Hague Court to revisit its prior decision.

it is We, the People, who are running out of time. Pelosi has proved to be one of the most unpatriotic, unAmericans ever. What a disgrace to this country.
