IT'S OBAMA & BIDEN / BACK TO KITCHEN TABLE ISSUES

by Allen L Roland

www.opednews.com

Tell A Friend

Senator Barack Obama has chosen Senator Joseph Biden as his running mate but he passed up two Governors, Sebelius and Richardson, either of whom would have added more balance to his ticket. On the other hand, Biden will be an effective attack dog bringing a much too nuanced campaign back to kitchen table issues: Allen L Roland

U.S. Secret Service on Way to Biden's House 22 Aug 2008 The United States Secret Service has dispatched a protective detail to assume the immediate protection of Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., a source tells ABC News, indicating in all likelihood that Biden has been officially notified that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has selected him to be his running mate.

Sources also tell ABC News that Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and Virginia Gov Tim Kaine have been told they have not been selected for the vice presidential slot.

It was obviously a political choice, in response to McCain's ongoing attacks against Obama's lack of experience in foreign policy issues ~ as witness this comment in today's Huffington Post ~ " Though most voters still rank the economy as their number one worry, and that supposedly works to Obama's favor. Obama's number one worry, though, is still being outflanked by McCain on the issue of national security and foreign policy concerns. Biden's long years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee put him at the center of action and even decision making on key foreign policy matters. His centrist stance on the war, plus his age, he's 65, and elder statesman image made him the made-in-heaven choice to foil McCain's set foreign policy and national security greenhorn hit point against Obama .

Progressives, including myself, will be disappointed as Obama seemingly moves to the center but Biden will be a highly effective attack dog bringing a much too nuanced campaign back to kitchen table issues.

Now all we need is for McCain to pick Senator Joseph Lieberman and we'll have a Senate foursome.

My take on the Biden Announcement

Maybe I am a little bit too hopeful.

My take on this choice is that it projects Nueremburg.

One can hope.

I am a common man who wants to preserve our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Corporations as individuals should be changed in a court of law. Eliminate the drug war. Stop foreign aid, including Israel, until we are debt free ourselves. As a right to our inheritance of the assets and wealth of this country, at the very least free medical and dental ought to be made available to every citizen. The Mexican illegal alien invasion will be thwarted when owners who hire them go to prison. 5 year morito...

Biden for VP

After all the squaking about "independent" I kinda thought he was going to ask Bloomberg.  Like my old football coach used to say, "that's what you get for thinking." It would have been great had he asked Nader, or Kucinich.  But, they're not party/corporate loyalists.  Oh well, same old crap ...
