I'm Boycotting the Store Chains Banning Rolling Stone

by Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone has the photo of Boston Bomber Djokar Tsarnaev on its current cover-- because they did an exhaustive article about him.

Some people are complaining. And several big chains have announced they're not going to sell the issue. They include K-mart, RiteAid, Walgreens, CVS and Tedeschi foods.

This bothers me. What's next? They don't sell magazines with Edward Snowden or Bradley Manning on the cover, because they don't like what they did? Or how about Michael Moore or Newt Gingrich? Will they reject sales of issues with those people on the cover?

This is a slippery slope and very bad, stupid policy.

I wonder if those businesses sell adult magazines. Do they sell gun magazines in Connecticut?

There are so many excuses, if some cowardly or stupid or cowardly and stupid executives choose to refuse to sell magazines or books.

Only governments can actually censor. But when major companies like these start monkeying with what magazines people can have access to, it's a very bad sign. We already have an almost worthless mainstream media spoon feeding us what the government and corporations want us to know about.

I'm putting the word out. I will not go to kmart or rite aid or CVS or Walgreens, at least for as long as they are restricting access to Rolling Stone magazine. In addition, I'm going to buy a copy of the issue of Rolling Stone from 7-11, where they ARE still going to sell it.

What do you think?
