How to end the whole gun debate.

How to end the whole gun debate.

We're so preoccupied by the gun debate and it's become a muck in the muck argument, and there is an easy fix. Give the NRA everything it wants.

From a mandatory conceal and carry to a shoot first policy. Every American would have full gun rights and we eliminate the machine gun ban forever. We can strike ever single gun control law. No minimum age requirement. Eliminate the mental health consideration (i.e. involuntary confinement in a mental hospital). Full immunity for the shooter and no recourse for the victim.

This is the America people want and it is the America people should get. Guns are big business and that means profit for some.

There are concrete means of self protection that do not involve a gun, and we're too blind to see that, or we refuse to see the endless possibilities. We only want the gun. And, that betrays the truer psychiatric twists of America at large.

We try to invoke the names of other countries and point to them and say see how peaceful a fully armed nation can be. We shut out eyes to Rwanda and Somalia, Iraq, Northern Ireland's 20th century history, and the Middle East. We see only what we want to see.

We try and invoke past events and claim "if they only had guns"- oblivious to the social norms and cultural mindset of that era. We also want to ignore America's silent support of the genocide. We fabricate stories about Germany's gun laws when a history reveals theirs were no different than ours. People could own guns in National Socialist Germany.

We ignore America's history of genocide starting in the 17th century right here on terra firma Americana. We forget how horrified we were when the Native Americans acquire guns and started fighting back. We were terrified over the prospect a slave revolt on these shores and it was the threat of the gun that condemned a people into slavery until the mid 1860's.

We blame crime on drugs ignoring the fact it is America's growing demand for drugs that is fueling it all. In short, the violence related to drugs is completely self inflicted. We created the monster we can no longer fight.

We create false statistics and point to them with claims that guns cause a drop in crime and completely over look the fact that crime rates rise and fall like the tides "" that is a sociological fact.

Let's end the debate and give the NRA and what a minority of America really wants. If in a decade we are safer, then we made the right decision. If we are not safer, then it is too late forever and there will be no turning back.

However, in my experience, I find that America's gun culture is terrified of the experiment and that speaks volumes about America's truer arm chair pseudo bravado.

Speaking of mistruths

your article is filled with them. You suggest that the NRA would have everyone in America shooting at one another, nothing could be further from the truth.

The NRA has for as long as I can remember been a staunch supporter of extraordinarily stiff penalties for any crime committed with a gun. The liberal courts and judges don't see it that way. The NRA recognizes that no gun ever committed a crime, the person holding it did and that person must be held responsible.

The NRA recognizes that those citizens who were murdered in Rwanda and the Congo had no defense what so ever. They would like for that not to happen here.

You come off with the claim that the majority of America has no interest in defending themselves with a firearm, that only a select few push to maintain guns in the hands of law abiding citizens. That is simply not true.

I recently spoke with woman and her children from Columbia. They surprised me in saying that we were fortunate to have guns here to defend ourselves from the criminal element. They explained that in Columbia, the honest citizens are helpless and are murdered on a daily basis.

Should you not wish to defend yourself or to own a firearm, that is your right in America. Please do not attempt to take my rights or to re-frame our Constitution to fit your personal beliefs.

No gun owner I have ever meet wants no restrictions on gun owner ship.   Your arguement is no different than the wackso that claim if we allow gays to marry it would promote pedophilla  people  would be shacking up with sheep  and 9 thousand other over the tops lies.

Even when I fully support the NRA, gun people have to argue.

I never suggested the NRA wants people to shoot each other - that wasyour fabrication.

I never suggested that America has no desire to defend itself.....  Again, you are reading only what you want to read.

I never said anything about taking your rights or reframin the constitution - again, your imagination is running away with you.

If my memory serves me correctly, the NRA, and gun owners aren't too happy about some of the gun control laws - for as the NRA puts it, Law Abiding citizens.  The NRFA is not happy with the one gun per month law in some states with the claim "they're taking our guns away".

Where does the NRA recognize the slaughter in Rwanda and Somalia?  I've been through their web site and found nothing.  However, in both cases, trhe slaughter was by the militia, not the government.  One can own guns in Columbia, so I doubt your story is true.

You have along way to go in learning to read for understanding - arguing against what the NRA wants (see: www.nraleaders.com) demonstrates that you fail to comprehend.  You're one of the those people who think America should be happy we have gun tottin' people in our midst because they just must save our livers some day.

Your arguments in this article were classic, "I can't personally bestow my will on the vast majority, so give them what they want and we all see that I was right, but by then it will too late"

As to my story about the Columbian woman and her children; doubt it all you want, but it's true, she is married to one of my friends.

Might a legal gun toting citizen save your life a some point? They very well could.

Your attempt to marginalize me for disagreeing with your personal premise by insinuating that "I have a lot to learn," paints you as an opinionated elitist.

You wrote “You suggest that the NRA would have everyone in America shooting at one another”  – I never made any such suggestion.

You wrote "The NRA recognizes that those citizens who were murdered in Rwanda and the Congo had no defense what so ever. They would like for that not to happen here".  The NRA has no real stance that I found evidence of.  Besides, the slaughter was conducted by civilian militia, the back bone of the second amendment.  Besides, it has happened here - go study Wounded Knee.

You wrote "I recently spoke with woman and her children from Columbia. They surprised me in saying that we were fortunate to have guns here to defend ourselves from the criminal element. They explained that in Columbia, the honest citizens are helpless and are murdered on a daily basis".  I have a friend from South America who fled here because of the gun violence – I spoke with him and guns are wide spread and easy to get.  So the lady you spoke to came from a country where it is common practice to use a gunand easy to get guns to come here because we are lucky to be able to buy guns.  Dear me, such confusing logic it boggles the mind.  If anything your lady friend eascaped from the large scale violence of the gun owners in her country.  And, Columbia's internal wars are a direct result of America's drug demand.

Show me where I wrote I want to attempt to take your rights away or reframe the constitution.  You can't do it.

Contrary, I want you to have all the guns you want and to have as many old west shoot outs as you want.  I have continually supported the NRA’s agenda. I am for a grand experiment – arm the heck out of everyone.  If we are safer then we made the right decision.  If we are not then it is too late forever.

You need to make less assumptions or reading only what you want to read.  And, when someone supports you, but not in the language you want to hear, that does not make the person a bad person at all.  It means that you want to hear only what you want to hear.

My take on the gun ruling...

Darn those supreme court justices and repulicanuts. Don't they know that banning things solves all problems? I mean look at the war on drugs! Drugs like Cocaine are illegal in this country, completely 100% illegal, and look how much of a success that we've had in stopping illegal drug use! You can't go to any city or school in America and find a single drug or drug user. Nope, You can't because it's against the law! Legislation is ALWAYS the best way of solving and preventing all of societies ills you know! Even though murder is already against the law, if we make guns as hard to get as drugs are, we will all be safe at night right? Just think if guns were as difficult to get as marijuana was in our schools, just think how safe our kids would be there! Afterall, isn't that what this is really about? Even though it's already illegal for a child to have a gun, and even more illegal for them to bring it to school, and my god, is it illegal for them to actually use it and god forbid, commit murder!!!! But none of that matters, what matters because if we just ban those guns, there will be no gun violence, just like there is no drug abuse! More laws are always the right answer!

Oh.. wait. ... sigh.
