The Arrest of a Peacemaker/Healer on October 29, 2009 in Portland, Oregon

It was a time to be angry. I watched with astonishment a doctor being arrested for a minor infraction. Doctor Richard K Staggenborg was arrested, for not knowing the rules; he did not know that the marshals were so intimidated by peaceful non-violent demonstrators that to go up the stairway was enough to get you busted. This was his first time with us at the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. This is by far the worst group of security people I have ever had the displeasure of coming into contact with in my forty years of activism. These old guys make the CIA/FBI look good. So what to do?

So far, we have respected the people going into the court, not yelling at them. We have not littered around the court, always picking up any trash that we see. We have been respectful to the staff because we are not condemning the court, just one miserable judge. We have always ended up being friendly to the security people who we come into contact with; the Portland police have treated us (for the most part) with respect. The marshals have thrown all that away by this stupid arrest of a doctor for handing out leaflets about a mass murderer on their court.

Here is the arrest video:

I will greet Chief Justice Kozinski every morning when he arrives next week with a personalized sign calling for him to have his marshals arrest Judge Jay Bybee. The Chief Justice will be here from Tuesday until Friday to hear cases; we should greet him every morning and demand that he do something about Bybee. I know he cannot fire the monster, (must be impeached) but he can recommend to the House of Representatives that they begin an investigation. He could be influential in ridding the court of a war criminal. The judges must put pressure on the Congress and we must put pressure on both.

So, I be there about 0800 starting Tuesday morning in front of the Ninth Circuit @ 700 SW 6th Ave. to greet the Chief Justice and his buddies who sit with a mass murderer. (in my opinion)

For those in Portland, Oregon:

Will you come? Have a mocha, did I ever tell ya how much I love mochas?

Short Bio I was born in Brooklyn, New York in May of 1942. My first memory was the wonderful block parties that celebrated the end of WW2. I don't remember much but it was exciting and I could see how joyous people could be during a major (more...)
