Every day I look around and see the signs of our own self-destruction growing bolder and bolder. It seems like this world is becoming rotting meat left to spoil in the sun.
With Christ's death on the cross, God not only gave us a way to salvation, He also gave us a responsibility to cherish all of His gifts. We are to be not only the shepherds of his word and to add to his flock, but also to lead by example so that all will know the truth of his unconditional love. But in that quest, Christians have twisted and fallen willingly into the trappings of this world and have tried to have God fit their plans instead of the other way around.
Anderson Cooper will soon air a show about priest who was a child molester. When the church learned about this priest, other priests including the one who is now the Pope, helped cover up what had happened. Somehow, I cannot envision Jesus covering up for a pedophile.
We the sheep have lost our way because the shepherds are no longer interested in the flock; they are only interested in the "business" of being a shepherd. As a member of God's flock, I am using my gift to pass on what I think that we the sheep need to do and not fail Christ and all that he stood for.
The first thing we sheep must do in order to not be led to the eternal slaughterhouse is to flock together. Yet we have many who call themselves sheep that are truly wolves in black sheep suits. We know who they are and yet we allow them to sit and worship with us, patronize our businesses and homes, and call us friends. This must stop and they must be asked to leave the flock. It is the ultimate goal of these black sheep to slaughter your relationship with God by the whispers of the trappings of the world in your ears. To follow them blindly is to walk into the lake of fire willingly. But if we are to be examples of Christ and God then we have to be willing to do what it takes to make that happen, even when it is difficult to do.
Second, we sheep must be an example of what Christ has taught us to be. While I am an infant in this I know by my gut the difference of right and wrong as God has hard-wired us to know when our spiritual life is at stake. We must show the world that, in the above example, we would turn the offender over to the authorities instead of worrying about the politics and collection plate impact.
We sheep must set an example of right and wrong and demand in our society that those who lead us operate on the same principles. This means that even though the US government through the courts, flouts the Constitution every day by mixing Church and State by deciding how, where and why we can mention our faith, we must stand fast and demand that those who represent us do so from the path of right and wrong and not agendas and politics.
Lastly, we sheep must never be discouraged by the battles we lose. We must remember that we will lose the war for this world and evil will rule here in time. The objective is to win certain battles so that the trappings of this world do not overrun our daily lives and we are led to the slaughterhouse.
Follow your gut and you will do just fine.
