      ACT 4, SCENE 4

                                   (Fortinbras and Captain.)

                                   FORTINBRAS
Go to the king now, and request our passage through his
realm.  If he insists on meeting, you know our rendezvous,
            direct him there.

                                   CAPTAIN
            Very well.

                                   (Captain bows, Fortinbras exits.)

                                   (Enter Hamlet, Rosencrantz and
                                   Guildenstern.)

                                   HAMLET
                          (looking/pointing off into
                           distance)
Good sir, whose army is this?

                                   CAPTAIN
            Norway, sir.

                                   HAMLET
May I ask, what's the objective?

                                   CAPTAIN
            Poland.

                                   HAMLET
            Who commands?

                                   CAPTAIN
            The nephew to the king--Fortinbras.

                                   HAMLET
            What part of Poland?

                                   CAPTAIN
To be honest, a small bit of ground I wouldn't pay to farm.
There is no profit but the name.  Norway nor Poland could
ever gain a penny from it.

                                   HAMLET
            Will the Poles defend it?

                                   CAPTAIN
            It's already garrisoned.
