I have been very hesitant to expect anything from Mr. Obama. He doesn’t seem to be passionate enough about social justice. I view him as a charming, skilled, articulate politician. The very concept of “politician” is loaded with the connotation, for me, of opportunist, liar, sleaze ball and corporate front man.

But, there is something about this Barack which is unique in some way, and I am beginning to realize that there may be a reason to believe he is different.

He has been forced by some genetic fluke to be neither black nor white, but a synthesis. He isn’t black enough, and he isn’t white enough.

He experimented with drugs and pulled away from a street mentality and that kind of “coolness” and alienation.

He is culturally an Ivy League educated, privileged fellow. The Cream of the Crap President of the Harvard Law Review.

In contradiction to that piece of who he is, he chose to become a Community Organizer in an urban black neighborhood. The man is very hard to read.

Was this a stepping stone for his political ambitions-- or did he really want to be relevant in the community?

He is clearly not black enough or white enough.

He chose to expose himself to Black Nationalism and race consciousness through his choice of church affiliation. He seems to have the intellectual curiosity to want to know all those little nooks and crannies of who he is.

Ya know, maybe that is what his advantage is. Because of his genetics, he would have to tear himself apart to be much good at being a racist. Unlike Bubba, he might really feel our pain. He might even believe there are no blue states and red states.

What makes Obama unique is that he is not threatening to white people and makes black folks proud -- and many white folks proud, too. As if that isn’t weird enough, he is avoidant of conflict and slick as a greased pig. He surrounds himself with people who know what he needs to learn and admits that he doesn’t know everything.

This don’t sound like Yahoo American Presidential material.

Humility sounds so foreign after King George and his clan of barbarians.

I remain suspicious of Barack. I could not trust anyone who seeks that kind of power. He is understandably prioritizing getting his ass elected. Is that about ego and ambition? Does he want to do something inspired and idealistic? He speaks glowingly of his adversaries. Does he really think John McCain is a hero?

He is willing to talk to his enemies.

There is something very unBushy about this guy. Should we hold his charm against him?
