Is Rush Limbaugh leading the GOP along the way of the Neanderthals?
I can just picture a point in the distant past when the Neanderthals and homo sapiens lived together.

There was a clear difference between the way homo sapiens saw and did things. There were surely old-school Neanderthals who were offended by these new ways and at some point they may have just driven out those obnoxious new-way, fat-head homo sapiens. And then, all the Neanderthals could live in like-mindedness, together.
Perhaps that's what's happened to the Republican party. They've driven away the moderates, the center right thinkers and have purified the party. Now they can worship, with minimal disclaimer at the feet of "el rushbo."
While Rush Limbaugh might have been to extreme, too harsh, as Mika Brzezinski characterized him, the purer, further right thinking members of today's conservative base are not only willing to tolerate Rush's extreme attacks, they eat them up and embrace them.
It's clear that people are happy on both sides. Right wing bloggers are taking umbrage over Spokesmen Michael Steele and Eric Cantor for questioning the words of Limbaugh as representing the GOP. And the Obama administration couldn't be happier to help advance the message that Limbaugh is the voice of the new Republican party, as Rahm Emanuel was happy to elaborate upon on this Sunday's Meet The Press.
I imagine that when the Neanderthals sent the fat-headed new thinkers-- the homo sapiens-- they celebrated, held a party, maybe even had their tough leader talk about how he hoped those homo sapiens didn't make it in the forests or plains. But we know how history worked out, don't we.
