OWS Day 14 by waywuwei
What is it exactly that our state and federal governments want from us? Do they want us all to commit suicide as 50,000 veterans of our empire wars did? Do they want us to exist, but in a state of relentless fear, ignorance, anxiety and financial desperation? I am beginning to think it is both of the above. Desperate people are powerless, and they want us forever powerless. I read constantly that CEO's are "sociopaths", even "psychopaths" - and since these are the people whose lobbyists control our federal government and write our laws, we now have a sociopathic/ psychopathic government. Read the front page of this website on any day. It is an ongoing catalog of 'sociopathy'.
Here are some headlines from future issues of OpEd News: "Congress votes to repeal the entire US Constitution - replaces it with the "Corporate Bill of Rights" - Supreme Court expected to uphold"; "Goldman Sachs brass appointed to the presidencies of every nation on earth; JP Morgan retail brokers expected to take all US Congressional seats"; "Congress votes to destroy the ecosystem of the planet so that the Kochs can acquire another trillion in personal wealth"; " Twelve spy drones crash mid-air over Chicago's Sears Tower - debris kills 6, injures 57 "; "In a 5-4 decision Supreme Court rules that landlords can demand rent equivalent to 1000% of each tenant's gross income; 100 million evicted now living under bridges"; "Congress passes 'Big Oil Rules the World' bill, eliminates all Federal regulatory agencies, exonerates BP from liability for its 140th Gulf oil spill"; "Supreme Court rules that all Federal judges can receive up to 1 billion dollars per year in corporate bribes"; "President Lloyd Blankfein announces that poor Americans and senior citizens are 'useless eaters' and should consider suicide"; "Woman convicted of having an abortion, prosecution based on NSA email records; sentenced to life in FEMA camp #2112" "Congress passes bill denying health insurance to any person who has ever had a cold"; "Supreme Court rules that government surveillance cameras in bedrooms are legal for all American citizens and legal residents with a net worth of less than 100 million dollars"; "Congress votes to allow fracking of Times Square"; "Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel authorizes use of depleted uranium bunker-buster bombs on NATO Summit protesters"; President Blankfein on vacation at Lake Como; Vice-President Lynn Cheney orders bombing of Norway, Canada, Venezuela and Brazil for harboring terrorists, Exxon Mobil stock price skyrockets 1000%"; "Congress outlaws all non-GMO foods, 80 year old grandmother arrested by Army swat team for gardening"; "Federal Reserve devalues the dollar by 80%, quintupling corporate profits; millions starve as the price of milk rises to $2000 per gallon"; "President Blankfein signs bill repealing suffrage for all females and ordering all women of child-bearing age into corporate sex slavery".
If you found that amusing, you have not been paying attention. Tell me they don't hate us. They haaaaate us. We are not just "enemies of the state" in NDAA parlance, i.e. "terrorist sympathizers"; we are their personal enemies. Our very existence as free-thinking humans challenges their claims to virtue, to doing "God's work". If we die, all the better. They want us to die. I believe that is why it is impossible to pass legislation that benefits society in any way, that gives people healthy food, clean water, or clean air; that is why they covered up the toxic and usually fatal effects of Corexit on the human population of the Gulf states. Do they get that once we are all dead, once they get the next mutant generation to be the slave labor pool they drool for. there will be nobody left to buy their products or fatten their bank accounts? Do they get that the 400 of them who hold all of the money cannot sustain any country's economy? Do they understand that the guard at their gate cannot hold back a mob of 100 million angry poor people? Do they know that banana republic governments based on economic oppression always end in revolution and economic collapse ?
No, they don't get that part. It is an almost ideological stance, this passion for destroying us. It is some diabolical idea that took hold when Ronald Reagan made greed and cruelty public policy. If you have never spent time in Texas, let me describe the America of the future. There are no speed limits, so there are 1198 auto collisions per day, every day. Many Texans pack a firearm in their coat pocket, so getting into an argument over a parking space is not recommended. If you visit the "beach" on the gulf shore, you will be treated to a panoramic view of hundreds of oil rigs and find oil slick in your sand castle. There are no zoning laws in Houston, so family homes sit between Pizza Huts and Exxon stations. Houston is my notion of hell. It is not civilized. It is a nightmare of deregulation - the model for the demise of America that the whores in Congress cannot enact fast enough. This is the America they want. As CNBC reporter, Bob Pisani, put it, " I can't wait to see condominiums lining the Grand Canyon". America clearly has only one value at work: corporate profit. And nothing else. Certainly not human life.
Am I just grousing? Yeah, sure I am. Like most of you reading this, I have fought most of my life to make this a better country. That we are losing the war is obvious to all of us. The criminals in power are winning big time. We have no say about anything that happens here. We can protest - if we are willing to face armed tanks a la Tienanmen Square, the latest government plan to shut us up this Spring. And we can vote them out. Or try to. Most of you will find no alternative candidates on your ballot. In New York we have the option of voting Green. If you do not have that option on your ballot, you can write them in. (Jill Stein is the presidential candidate.) But I am not hopeful. According to yesterday's polls, half of our dumbed-down population is actually planning to vote for Romney. If the election ends up being that close, the R's can easily steal it by stuffing digits into the paperless electronic voting machines, as they did in 2004. As for actual voters, the majority of Americans do not even consider voting outside of the two sociopath parties. We can try. But I have very low expectations for any redemption of our rancid government. I am making plans for life somewhere else.
