Say whatever you will about Fidel Castro, but the Cuban ex-leaders' recent description of the Republican candidates running for the presidency was priceless and on target saying they represent, "The greatest competition of idiocy and ignorance that has ever been."

This writer, when reading the various comments made by these Republican candidates has often been at a loss to find the right words to describe some of the inanity emanating from this cast of characters and at best has referred to them as "pretenders".   But Castro, now relieved of his former duties, is at 85, still mentally sharp was right in the mark.

Yet what is particularly disturbing is the thought that millions of Americans will see fit to actually vote for one of these people in the next election.

For those familiar with what has been written lately in this space regarding Barack Obama know there has been no sparing of the criticism aimed at him. But this group of Republicans is so lacking, so impossible to contemplate, so deficient in every conceivable way, that it seems unimaginable that one of them could actually be the next president.

But then George W. Bush was elected president (yeah I know it was probably fraudulent), so it's not beyond the realm of possibility. But voting for any of this gang?

Would collective insanity be the right words?
