The discovery of the constructive uses of fire made possible the remarkable adventure we experience as human society. Harnessing this natural phenomenon, which probably originated with lightening strikes, has enabled incredible achievements. Civilization has depended upon it.

Today, every man, woman, and child on earth is faced with a pair of intertwined challenges.

The most obvious is a profound disturbance of economies of every variety. Unemployment has spread across the planet like a plague. Obsolete understanding results in economists and politicians seeking to apply inadequate tools that were developed in an earlier time. Generals are notorious for trying to fight the next war with weary weapons of the last war.

The second challenge is energy. The continued use of fossil fuels create a potential to end life on earth for millions of people, as well as the wide variety of creatures we depend upon for food and companionship.
