Now that we know at least some members of our Congress were intimidated into voting for corporate welfare with the understanding that if the measure didn’t pass - it was likely Bush would have to declare Martial Law. It was “frighten, scare, claim the global economy would collapse and cause widespread panic, ushering in Martial Law because of our Congress’s inability to act fast while there was still time; It was 911 all over again, but this time, there were no mass causalities except the American and global economies. The casualties will come later, when this measure barely halts the global readjustment that is occurring as the US loses its status of being the world’s most solid economy.

The question we face is what’s next? I hate to ask what could possibly go wrong now, and I’m usually answered rather quickly as something else immediately goes haywire. I believe that for millions of Americans, many are asking themselves that same question; “What’s Next?” We have just witnessed our Congress giving into a President with a 24% approval rating. and in this matter, the people were decidedly against the bail-out, yet it happened anyway, with Nancy Pelosi bellowing that it was crucial that this measure pass. This isn’t Mrs. Pelosi’s first time acting as Bush’s spokesperson, and her “taking impeachment off the table” has endeared her office with that of the Bush administration, effectively rendering her useless as the Democratic Speaker of The House. Pelosi needs to switch her party affiliation or dispose of her “God Syndrome” where she believes that her opinion is more important then those who voted her into office and expect her to vote their will.

Millions of Americans seem to be worried that Bush/Cheney will declare Martial Law sometime before Obama is scheduled to take office unless the GOP effectively steals another election. My site has been very busy lately, and people all over the United States and the world are searching for any information they can find on Martial Law, FEMA Internment Camps, NSPD-51, and the “Thought Crime Prevention Bill.” The government’s recent actions, coupled with the unconstitutional behavior we witnessed at the RNC Convention has many people wondering if freedom is now nothing more than an illusion. On a daily basis, we hear new allegations of the GOP attempting to purge voter rolls and generally disenfranchise voters, behavior we would expect to see emanating from a Third World Country.

The most shocking evidence that we’re going to find ourselves under Martial Law was written by Wayne Madsen - and it’s bone-chilling to understand that this is what many of us on “the left” have been predicting for almost two years or more:

FEMA sources confirm coming martial law

Wayne Madsen
WMR
October 8, 2008

WMR has learned from knowledgeable Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sources that the Bush administration is putting the final touches on a plan that would see martial law declared in the United States with various scenarios anticipated as triggers. The triggers include a continuing economic collapse with massive social unrest, bank closures resulting in violence against financial institutions, and another fraudulent presidential election that would result in rioting in major cities and campuses around the country.

In addition, Army Corps of Engineer sources report that the assignment of the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team (BCT) to the Northern Command’s U.S. Army North is to augment FEMA and federal law enforcement in the imposition of traffic controls, crowd control, curfews, enhanced border and port security, and neighborhood patrols in the event a national emergency being declared. The BCT was assigned to duties in Iraq before being assigned to the Northern Command.

On April 3, 2008, WMR reported on a highly-classified document regarding the martial law scenario: WMR has learned from knowledgeable sources within the US financial community that an alarming confidential and limited distribution document is circulating among senior members of Congress and their senior staff members that is warning of a bleak future for the United States if it does not quickly get its financial house in order. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is among those who have reportedly read the document. The document is being called the “C & R” document because it reportedly states that if the United States defaults on loans and debt underwriting from China, Japan, and Russia, all of which are propping up the United States government financially, and the United States unilaterally cancels the debts, America can expect a war that will have disastrous results for the United States and the world. “Conflict” is the “C word” in the document. The other scenario is that the federal government will be forced to drastically raise taxes in order to pay off debts to foreign countries to the point that the American people will react with a popular revolution against the government. “Revolution” is the document’s “R word. LINK

When I read the above story, I also verified Wayne Madsen’s Biography - and it’s impressive to the point that we must take the above report seriously. We know the FEMA Internment Camps are in place, manned, yet many of them contain no occupants. There is still a press blackout on this issue, although for the health and safety of the American public, it should be actively debated in Congress. Select members of Congress are aware of these plans yet no one is raising the alarm to the people. Is Congress complicit with turning the United States into a Police State, or are they too terrified and worried about their own safety to act/react???

One thing is sure. In spite of the danger of Martial Law, the “C & R” document described above also describes an extremely alarming scenario: “The document is being called the “C & R” document because it reportedly states that if the United States defaults on loans and debt underwriting from China, Japan, and Russia, all of which are propping up the United States government financially, and the United States unilaterally cancels the debts, America can expect a war that will have disastrous results for the United States and the world. Whether or not we face confinement in internment camps, our concentration should be centered on the document that speaks of a probability of war between Russia, China, and Japan. That may sound far-fetched, however, all of these economies have invested heavily in America - and if their debt is canceled unilaterally, I do see the possibility that as the US economy drags down our allies and enemies - there will be a global hostility aimed at the United States for crashing the world economy that will transcend territorial boundaries.

It was Bush and his greedy cronies that helped to get us into this mess. I agree that this is a crisis that cannot wait until a new President assumes power. We learned from the Great Depression the root of its causes and what is necessary to prevent another one. One thing is certain. Inaction is a guarantee that we will succumb to another Great Depression, however, if we act fast, it can be avoided. I read somewhere on the net this morning that financial representatives were being sent from Obama and McCain’s respective camps to work on a solution that can be implemented immediately. We fell into the last Great Depression because of the government’s failure to act swiftly to stem the tide of financial insolvency that began in Europe, Austria to be exact, which spread to Germany and then the United States. Let the financial wizards from the Obama and McCain camp work this one out; the insane have been running the asylum for far too long. The decisions made today need to be those of our next President, and thankfully, unless another election is stolen, that President will be Barrack Obama.

President Bush can easily declare Martial Law if our economic system fails, and right now, we have no guarantees that it wont. I do note that the White House and Congress is addressing this with all of the significance it deserves; lets hope that George Bush, in his final act as our President, doesn’t declare “null and void” all of our debts to Russia, China, and Japan. It would be the one act of unmitigated insolence that was pre-designed to embroil us in another war - one that earth itself cannot win.

On one web site, I read a plea to the “3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team” to please refrain from shooting or killing American citizens. I would expand that plea to all police officers, federal employees, and the entirety of our law enforcement agencies. Law and order is a prerequisite in this nation, and none of would ask you to shirk from your duties. If people destroy pubic property, they need to be arrested, with the least amount of force possible,. and all efforts put forth to keep the peace. It doesn’t mean arresting demonstrators that have done nothing wrong. nor does it justify sneaking off in the very early hours of the morning and rounding-up all of us who are on DHS’s Terrorist Watch List. You can be added to that list for attending a peaceful protest, and Maryland state troopers recently added several people to the terrorist watch list for belonging to “three groups advocating peace and protesting the death penalty.” Better watch these people; they don’t believe in the death penalty and might strap-on bombs and kill people who are for capitol punishment (sic), which would go against everything they believe in. If you’ve sent an email, registered an anonymous comment that is derogatory to the Bush administration, then chances are that you also grace a list that is almost as absurd as the tenants of Patriot Act II and NSPD-51.

To America’s Federal, State, and Local Police Agencies. We are well aware of Operation Falcon and know that plans are in effect to pick-up and detain many citizens that are on the Terrorist Watch List. Consider that while your task force is busily at work, Task Force G-53 arrested your brother and sister for being on that very list you use to arrest innocent Americans. When all of the “dissidents” are rounded-up, placed in internment camps that will eventually lose track of what happened to their prisoners - there will be a huge cry from the very authorities that made these sweeps as they find out many of their own loved ones were also swept-up - although the lists will remain as confidential as possible. Nevertheless, the underground of American society will alert those who lost family members, and the basis for full-scale revolution will be born.

Arizona has already stated they will succeed from the Union if Martial Law is declared, and I believe they would be closely followed by Vermont and then a slew of states that demand to retain control of their own sovereignty. The President may believe that he can control the United States through a declaration of Martial Law, however, citizens know that we can weather almost any situation without stripping us of our rightr and resorting to measures that only a dictator and hater of freedom would employ.

I am nothing more than a patriotic American that is doing whatever I can to further the cause of democracy, the rule of law, and am absolutely outraged on how the Bush administration is defying our Congress, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights! Footnote: I write in a style that I believe is appropriate in today's world where we can't trust the Mainstream News Media, and rather than concentrating on one article alone, which may or may not receive the exposure and emphasis it should, I prefer to meld several relevant stories together, that each taken alone may not expose the entire situation, but when taken-in as a whole, tend to give the reader a better understanding of the subject. One article or story alone does not represent the "Big Picture" - but when several are effectively tied-together it often reveals a trend or broader view of the subject matter that is important to completely understand any given situation. http://justanothercoverup.com/

I am a concerned citizen(and musician) of Canada, watching the madness unfold to my south. I am hoping to connect some of the dots between the Bush/Cheney regime, the neo-conservatives, the C.I.A, the military, and of course oil and the banking institutions. It is becomming quite obvious to most people who still retain their critical thinking skills the corruptness that pervades the current administration.

Arrests!

As a Canadian, I am more than a little concerned. What I really cannot understand is this. While many people are calling for impeachment, probes, and voting them out of office, there does not seem to be an outraged public( and congress) CALLING FOR ARREST AND IMPRISONMENT!

Everyone knows on some level that laws have been broken, from illegal wars, torture, spying, fraud, and murder. There should be hundreds of arrests at high levels. ( and while this happens free all the wrongly imprisoned victims in   the so called 'War On Drugs.

As a country, your work is cut out for you.

You are right...

we, in the U.S. ought to be screaming for imprisonment by these multitudinous criminals...except, like Pavlov's dogs, we are trained to follow each red herring (entertainment factor) that is tossed to us.

Other than OpEdNews and other progressive sites, most of U.S. illiterati only listen to newsertainment and never, ever question authority and certainly don't know what martial law is.

Many of us were fearing Cheney/Rove declaring martial law in 2004 if it looked like Kerry/Edwards might win.

This article was quoted by Boston Globe and below is my repl

Update: This article, and the information source quoted herein has been picked-up by the Boston Globe in an article entitled:

Postponing the election: It’s a joke, or is it?

While I believe the Globe article could have dug deeper, the readership did it themselves, and the comments at the end of the article represent a public that isn’t being fooled by MSM attempts to downplay significant events that could affect the health and welfare of America’s citizens. Even though I wish the article would have been based more on the facts contained within the “source documents” - I still give the Globe Kudos for publishing an issue that the MSM has refused to cover or give it the emphasis it deserves. The total lack of Congressional oversight on this issue is breathtaking, unconstitutional, and an insult to every American that believes in our Constitution and the rule of law.

I was talking to my father a few days ago

and he wasn't aware of the 3rd birgade being having been returned from Iraq for possible future riot control.

If they are anticipating rioting in the near future, what's to say the Bu$h Cabal won't instigate it and use it as a ruse to declare Martial Law?

There was a good article on opednews the other day about suicide bombers and the US instigating these acts of Terrorism to justify the War Of Terror's illegal occupation of Iraq.

So, I for one would not be surprised if another 9/11, the current financial meltdown is used as a pretext to institute Martial Law in the coming weeks.

So if Pelosi OKed this weird congressional martial law...

... that means everything's just peachy and there's absolutely nothing to be concerned about? And she merits this kind of blanket approval why exactly...?

Maybe because she's forced the Bush International Crime Syndicate to withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan for lack of money?

Great, wasn't it, watching Pelosi stand firm against the chicken hawks, keeping the purse shut, and telling the Bushies to fire Blackwater and use that money for US troops? Or maybe they could make a few small withdrawals from their offshore numbered accounts to pay the bill. I remember that, don't you? Their jaws dropped in shock that a democrat, a woman at that, would dare talk to them that way. One of life's truly great moments.

Plus the time Kucinich introduced 33 articles of impeachment against Bushie himself, and then three more for good measure. This after he had filed three against Cheney a few months previously.

Remember how Pelosi couldn't wait to get all those articles of impeachment against both Cheney and Bush into Conyers' hands so the process of kicking these swine out of D.C. forever could finally begin?

She's become such a force advocating for the people that, when the blatant bastards were whispering threats about imposing martial law if the House didn't go along with the Bushies Bailout Bucks for Billionaires program, they had to be careful she wasn't within earshot.

But without her around, they were comfortable threatening House democrats with putting and end to representative government (some would say it's been over for awhile, but...), declaring a fascist dictatorship, repealing the Constitution and Bill of Rights and flipping the switch to kick off the Fourth Reich if they didn't get their way?

Hell, that's only a near-perfect working definition of high treason. And high treason is only a capital crime. Why would anybody get excited? All they want is a congressional OK to steal another trillion dollars or so from the American people or there'll be checkpoints in cities, borders closed and tanks in the street. What's the big deal?

Sarcasm aside, here's a few more reasons to be pretty damn uncomfortable whenever the Bushies or their surrogates utters the words "martial law."

Below is a fairly current list, with embedded links, summarizing some of the more outrageous pieces of the physical and legal infrastructure this pack of fascists has put into place almost from the moment Bushie stepped into his stolen offal office:

First, there's the Orwellian "thought crime bill" (HR 1955/S 1959) still awaiting passage in the Senate and Bushie's big red X; executive orders allowing them to steal everything you have if you express disagreement with their Middle East "policy," which they say would "undermine efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people." (So that's what it's called: economic reconstruction, political reform and humanitarian assistance. You just can't make this stuff up.)

Here's another one just like it for those who object to their policy re Lebanon and Syria (should anyone actually know what that is), a sin so apparently repugnant that our Czar feared that it would "...constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat."

Presidential directives like NSPD 51/HSPD-20 that blather on about "continuity of government," a term that's been used as cover for a whole bunch of covert plots against the rights of American citizens. This time, ever on the alert to line somebody's pockets, government agencies and private sector organizations will work together "...to ensure a comprehensive and integrated national continuity program that will enhance the credibility of our national security posture and enable a more rapid and effective response to and recovery from a national emergency."

Such an emergency might well be a presidential hangnail, since the catastrophes that trigger these directives include "… any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions." Vague enough for you?
And best of all, The Decider himself gets to decide what's an emergency and if people are spooked enough to let him get away with invoking NSPD-51.

Then come the federal invasions of privacy regarding medical and financial records; monitoring US citizens' electronic communications; re-targeting spy satellites for domestic surveillance; the TSA cavity search specialists (for attractive young women only; the rest are presumed to pose no threat to the state); InfraGard, the new national system of vigilantes with the FBI's permission to "shoot to kill;" no-fly and terrorist watch lists; Halliburton/KBR's detention camps; RFIDs in new passports and new national ID cards, which states have actually resisted, to the shock and awe of all; new TSA "behavior detection officers" to spot those who don't "look quite right;" all this wonderful new stuff coming this year and next from the DHS; private armies featuring mercenaries from companies like Blackwater and DynCorp springing up like noxious weeds... All that and the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, extraordinary rendition (whatever the hell that means) and torture, too. (Note: the torture link is graphic and disgusting, as it should be.)

No need to revisit FISA; we all know how our opposition party heroes stood up for us against further NSA et al snooping on or diverting our private electronic communications and slapped the Bushies down hard, repeatedly blistering the airwaves with devastating attacks on this pack of vile fascists and… What? Oh… They didn't? Hmmmmm. Must be time for a strongly worded letter from Harry and Nancy then. Let's all join them in "deploring" this "unfortunate situation" and "object in the strongest possible terms" to this breach of privacy.

Also, see the blockquote in this post, which is a small part of H.R. 1585, the fiscal year 2008 National Defense Authorization Act. Note the orders to prepare to use regular troops -- as opposed to the Guard or Reserves -- to respond to "natural disasters and terrorist events." In other words, martial law.

You look at the destructive power these scumbags have acquired for themselves since 2001, and consider the warped bastards we're giving this power to, and it's hard not to suspect that all the pieces have been carefully put in place to lock this country down like a bank vault. They just haven't flipped the switch yet.

Maybe they won't. But it seems like a hell of a lot of work to go through if they're not going to use it.  Personally

It's a long, tangled post, I know, but there are some important things to consider when trying to figure out what the next few months might have in store.  I think it's going to be pretty crazy between now and inauguration day.

In fact, I think we're now in the most dangerous period since immediately after 9/11, which overwhelming evidence demonstrates was Act I, Scene I of PNAC's script; their "...new Pearl Harbor."

Spectacular visuals, a made for TV production intended to force a comfortable, complacent public to experience the twisted Bushean vision of a future defined by less oil and more bloodshed. More petro-slavery; more disastrous ecological collapses; and always more bloodshed because... well, because war profiteers and similar criminals need to make a living, too.

9/11 was intended as the perfect, all-purpose excuse and the only justification needed for every single Bushean domestic outrage, as well as a foreign policy that can be summarized this way:

"If you've got oil, we're going to take it. And we don't care how many of your kids, their mothers and their grandparents we kill or maim in the process. Shock and awe, dude. USA! USA! USA!"

So have a great day...

You forgot one thing.

Better watch these people; they don’t believe in the death penalty and might strap-on bombs and kill people who are for capitol punishment (sic), which would go against everything they believe in.

Those who would believe the above, are the very same people who PROFESS to be PRO LIFE, who bomb abortion clinics and shoot and KILL doctors and their families to make that POINT. They are CRAZIES and they INCLUDE police officers, clergy, "Christian" right wing nut jobs like Bush and more "regular" right wingers than we can count. These are the people who LOVE war and justify the lives of troops lost with "They volunteered".  These are the same people who defend torture with ALL SINCERITY and advocate kidnapping world wide and yet call OTHERS terrorists.

All I'm saying is don't underestimate the degree of EVIL that is George W. Bush and all his followers. The numbers may have dwindled some, but they are STILL staggering.

FEMA Official States Bush Is Planning To Implement Martial L

I don't believe it, Saints be praised, Americans FINALLY beginning to see the wood for the trees, or is that just a splinter in yer eye ?

For nearly four years now, I have been saying to anyone who will listen, that they way to bring the U.S. to it's kness is not with the gun or the biggest stick, all one has to do is withdraw the loans and demand repayment, that'll be the end of America.

I notice China, Russia and even poor old Japan rate a mention, countries that the U.S. has moved heaven and earth to gain access to their economic infrastructure and attempt to rebuild them in the U.S.'s prefered model.  Now we find that model is not the be all and end all it was claimed to be, understandably, those countries could be excused if they feel a mite peeved off about it all, could it be, that they have already called in their loans and this is the reason for the melt down ?

Yep, Americans would do well, to give serious consideration to the introduction of martial law, I do not believe for one second, Mr Obama will ever be allowed the Presidency of the U.S.

The country is far too biggoted to ever allowed a person of colour at the helm, he wouldn't last a month, if by some miracle he would ever be allowed the post, Which he won't. Besides, what on earth makes Americans even think, Obama is any different from what they've had for the last 60 years ?

So YEP, you better get ready for martial law and everything that goes with it, sometimes I guess it's better to start over, and maybe the U.S. is over due to do that ?

Question is, Does the average American citizen have the intestinal fortitude to follow thru with such an action ? Just between me and the readers here, I seriously doubt it, I suspect martial law WILL be implemented,(for your own good of course and safety) the election will be declared Null and Void, protesters will be shuttled off to concentration camps and the NWO will continue to run the Gulag of the U.S. as ever, with the citizens being too cowed and terrorised to resist, something they have done to many other Nationalities for the last 60 years finaly coming home to roost, maybe it's a good thing, finaly Americans will get a taste of what they've been dishing out so freely for the rest of the World.

My Dad, (WW 2 veteran, on the 'wrong' side) used to say, "you can't make steel without fire, sometimes people also need fire, to bring out the steel in them" maybe that time has come for Americans?
