Before Katrina hit New Orleans, Bush cut the budget of the Army Corps of Engineers for levee maintenance. So once again we have a disaster carefully engineered to cost billions which could have been prevented at a cost of millions. The Bush cabal profits from suffering and death. They employ it to take control of resources, as Naomi Klein has demonstrated in her book. I keep thinking the book is called "Shock Economics", but that could be wrong. The Iraq debacle is no mistake. Every move made by Bush generates crisis, catastrophe, and conflict on purpose. Cynical? Yes. But terribly acute.

I wonder how them red state republicans
feel about their votes to back the Bu$h cabal now? Every one of them who are now under water deserve what they voted for! They should have listened to Buckshot Dick, and realize he meant these words to every American, not just democrats, of "Go F*%k Yourself". by Stanimal (2 articles, 226 quicklinks, 38 diaries, 1254 comments [234 recommended, 2 rejected]) on Thursday, Jun 19, 2008 at 11:34:51 PM

Shock Doctrine
The book is called the "Shock Doctrine" and Klein presents the thesis of "disaster capitalism." One note about people voting for Bush and "getting what they deserve." I don't yet know the the demographics of the current flooding, but Klein relates the now legendary remarks by New Orleans Republican Congressman Richard Baker to a group of lobbyists--"We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn't do it, but God did." Telling. by Georgianne Nienaber (153 articles, 47 quicklinks, 13 diaries, 350 comments [3 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Friday, Jun 20, 2008 at 6:18:50 AM
