Defusing Situations...

Defusing Situations...
As a middle child, I often felt like the mediator in the family looking for the win-win to defuse conflicts. As a business professional, I look to find a win-win scenario for my client and the business.
What if we never look to defuse situations or for a win-win?
Imagine if firemen used gas instead of water to put out fires. This would not accomplish the goal, but it would be neat to watch.
Imagine if political and religious leaders promoted civil unrest, invasion of countries for resources and/or religious bias. The leaders may get the resources they want, but at what cost?
Now imagine, the firemen used water or other resources to contain the fire and put it out. This would not be as neat to watch, but lives and property would be saved.
Now imagine, political leaders that worked to integrate countries into the international community and onto sustainable energies, so they are not as dependent on a particular resource to support their people. This week, Obama is doing more than just imagine. He is looking to defuse the situation in the Middle East and build support going forward.
Our next President and our future political leaders have a tremendous responsibility to continue this effort in the Middle East and with many other countries around the world. This will take many years (possibly decades) to achieve.
How would you defuse and stabilize the situation in the Middle East?
Would you add gasoline to the fire or aim for a win-win scenario?
--------------------------------
As you choose leaders for the future and evaluate leader of today, you need to determine if you want a leader that will put gasoline on a fire or a leader that will help to defuse situations and aim for a win-win scenario.
Finally, imagine if we don't get countries onto sustainable energies and oil in many regions of world start to run out. Will countries attack the countries that still have reserves or work with countries to find a win-win?
