You all watched, and yet, somehow, most of you are not completely disgusted. I don't know anyone who thinks Pelosi has done a good job, and she is one of the major reasons that the CONgress has a single digit approval rating, YET, she was allowed to perform her dirty campaign tactics, and the best anyone here has come up with, so far, is Congrats on the meaningless effort.
Cindy deserves more... I don't agree with her politics, but even I recognize that she deserves much more. This group of writers are so concerned about the tactics Rove pulled, but for Pelosi, it was perfectly acceptable..
Cindy, IF you decide to seek office again, You have a Libertarian standing up right here, right now saying I will help you! The beltway corruption needs to be stopped, and allowing it to continue by patting the person who got screwed, on the back, goes against everything I thought "Progressives" stood for.

Unity
We need a unified opposition to the status quo. In a winner-take-all election system, it is political suicide to keep running two or three or four 'opposition' campaigns in the same election. The left and the right have broad areas of agreement in opposing what I term 'corporate rule'. These would include ... -- Ending the wars abroad and bringing our trooops back home. -- Cleaning up our corrupt election and governing systems. Cleaning up our elections and the way they are financed and the way money decides elections. Cleaning up our elections admistration systems where so many dirty tricks are used to block alternatives to the two corporate parties. -- Rolling back the American police state and restoring the rights of American citizens. These days, I'm more likely to side Green than Libertarian. But there's a lot about Libertarian thought I like. There is enough agreement between the 'left opposition' and the 'right opposition' that we need to agree on what we agree on and move forward with that. Where we disagree, lets agree to disagree. And some day when we have truly free and fair elections where we can all put our ideas and beliefs out before the people, and see who wins. But, we face a powerful enemy that will use every possible trick to hold power. We have to work in a winner-take-all election system to get any change. The only way to approach this would be to unite and run one 'opposition' candidate who has a mandate to remove the corruption from our government and deal with critical items like bringing our troops home and rolling back the police state. There's a lot of effort (and more dirty tricks) aimed at keeping us divided. We must unite to move forward. by Samson (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 9 diaries, 49 comments [3 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Thursday, Nov 6, 2008 at 9:08:33 AM

More Specifics, Please
I supported Cindy's run, with contributions and comments whenever I could, although I no longer live in District 8, or even in the States. I loathe Pelosi, and her avid support of Bush, Torture, "Bail outs for Billionaires", etc. This is the first I have heard of any dirty tactics by Pelosi, although I know she avoided debating Cindy. Could you please elaborate? I did notice the S.F. and national msm ignored her campaign like the Plague, and got real steamed when CNN ran the election results, and had Pelosi and the Republican candidates totals, but no Sheehan anywhere. I had to go on the 'net, to find out Cindy OUTPOLLED the Republican by almost TWO to ONE, yet CNN didn't even post the result. Imagine if Nadar had garnered 1/5 of Obama's total with NO coverage at all nationwide, you would then understand the very fine battle Cindy fought. What a gal. THANK YOU CINDY!!!!!!! YOU are REAL CHANGE, and soon the People will understand the huge mistake they made re-electing this Torture enabler named Nancy. by David Hastings (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 116 comments [5 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Thursday, Nov 6, 2008 at 5:41:09 PM

Cindy is screwed and then IGNORED
The media blackout on Cindy was nearly total. And then, to put salt in the wound, CNN doesn't even report her numbers, even though she got twice as many votes as the Republican. Just look at their map - - they don't even put her up there. Just DISGUSTING!!!! Write to CNN and tell them what scum they are. Check what ads are on the page when you look at it, and write to those advertisers and tell them you are boycotting them because they support CNN's pathetic coverage of the California 8 race. Sick. Just sick. by Charlie L (2 articles, 4 quicklinks, 1 diaries, 747 comments [2 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Thursday, Nov 6, 2008 at 7:08:40 PM
