Warning: I'm an atheist.  The ideas in the following song, as the disclaimer below notes, are my ideas and not those of OpEdNews.

Many people claim that religion has done a great deal of good since its incorporation.  I'd rather believe that a lot of people who happen to be associated with religion have done a great deal of good and would have done so whether they were religious or not.

On the other hand, I believe that, in many cases, religion has been at the root of much of what has been wrong with the world.  Please be advised that the following lyrics are prone to express these sometimes overlooked acts which, if not carried out in the name of religion, would not have taken lives and ruined riches which rightly belong to our Mother Earth.

Thank you in advance.

(One concern I had when writing Children Of God is that it would be too long. However, I wanted to make sure that I covered all of the "biggies". It's 7 minutes and 35 seconds long and I haven't even scratched the surface.)

Children Of God - to hear the music, click this title.

You bloodied my brothers in Belfast,
you murdered their children and wives.
How long did God say that this should last?
What right did you have with those lives?

You call yourselves holy,
children of God.
Your thoughts and behaviors
seem really quite odd
for those who are holy,
children of God.

You despise same gender relations,
the kind that you don't understand.
You say that they're banned in the bible,
a fantasy written by man.

You call yourselves holy,
children of God.
Your thoughts and behaviors
seem really quite odd
for those who are holy,
children of God.

You still call my brother a "n-word".
You don't like his color or race.
I don't understand how you figure,
you forced him here in the first place.

You call yourselves holy,
children of God.
Your thoughts and behaviors
seem really quite odd
for those who are holy,
children of God.

You don't like the Jewish religion.
You desecrate their house of prayer.
Is Jesus your source of conviction,
a claim that all Aryans share?

You call yourselves holy,
children of God.
Your thoughts and behaviors
seem really quite odd
for those who are holy,
children of God.

You shoot up the doctors and clinics.
My sisters, you say, have no choice.
Excuse us if we seem like cynics
for doubting your murderous voice.
