Shonah Home by Shonah Home
Shonagh Home is a spell breaker. Her work is a part of a holographic movement that helps us break the cultural spell that we live under. The work of Shonagh and her sisters and brothers, could spell the difference between the evolution of the human species and extinction.
Shonagh describes herself as an outlaw shaman, spell breaker, and author of Ix Chel Wisdom: 7 Teachings From the Mayan Sacred Feminine and Love and Spirit Medicine. Regarding these works, she states they " very intimately, express my own experiences working with Spirit and putting forth that guidance in my own life. " Thank Nature for outlaws, unadulterated by Western culture and constructs! Shonagh credits Magic Mushrooms with helping her empower herself to break through the cultural myths, taboos, and memes of our culture. Likewise, Shonagh empowers people in her shamanic work and helps them tap into their minds and true natures without the intervention of mind-altering plants. Dare we reclaim our power as Shonagh helps us to do?
The beauty that is ultimately revealed by the work of people like Shonagh is not the made-up beauty of ego's vanity and culture; rather, it is the intrinsic beauty of the human Soul. Recall that Snow White was quite adept at playing with birds, deer and other creatures of the Wild. Thus she is the Soul in us that recognizes her Self in Nature. Yet she is poisoned by the apple of Vanity. The vain witch (Mother Culture) asks, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, whose the fairest of them all?" When the mirror answers "Snow White," she schemes to get Snow White to take a bite of her apple.
In contrast to Snow White, who wound up ridding herself of vanity through the kiss of Eros, our protestors and left-winged zealots are still under the spell of the witch. Indeed, they would be well satisfied if our Rulers--the cells inherent in the witch herself--just behaved themselves. If Adam (the Man) would simply measure out peace and justice instead of war and inequity, all would be well in Eve's world outside of Eden. Thus, we buy into the witch's vanity and just want more of what she has. "We want benefits, decent working hours and pay, equal rights and a police department and military that attended to the civil rights of human beings." This would satisfy most of us. Meanwhile, even when we seem to be winning, she is behind the scenes saying, like her sister, the Wicked Witch of the West, "I'll get you, my little pretty!" (Would that Humankind should have dissolved all such witches in the clear waters of nature, rather than burned the healing "witches" in the hell-fires of our own construction.)
The problem cannot be solved by allowing our conventional, conniving culture to continue. As we found in the 60's, slight changes might be made, but the sickness of the system remains. We have gone backwards in pay, rights and liberties since the 80's. Destruction of unions, decimation of benefits, and other "anti-working class" actions were begun. Thus the witch smiles patiently during times of change. After all, in her scheme she realizes that she will clamp down again after she fattens us up for slaughter with rampant consumerism. We are but another form of cattle or pigs being raised for slaughter in her eyes. We are no different from the animals on the corporate farms. (The pigs will send us to the glue factory as truly as did their "human" predecessors .)
The elite that are represented by the Witch are a long living bunch going way back in history. Waiting a few years after the movements of the 1960s was nothing for this lot. Thus, even though the anti-war movement moved the United States out of a war in Vietnam, wars and "rumors of wars" (wars not declared, or reported) have been the hallmark of our age.
Our God is the ego, and we are ruled by the ego when we allow ourselves to be ruled by bosses and bureaucrats. Thus, our labor is indeed both in pain and in vain. We "owe our souls to the Company Store." Benefits have been cut, pay is dismal, and unions are close to being a thing of the past. But, its of our own doing. We allowed it, just as a frog can allow himself to be boiled alive as heat is slowly turned up in the pan of water he is trapped in.
(I knew this was happening when Reagan was president. I could see the scheme. So did some others, but our free speech was deemed subversive. Pointing out that the Emperor had no clothes, was unpatriotic at best, terrorist at worst.)
We don't have to be the frog in the frying pan, or the laboring woman in pain. The curse on Eve, be she in the form of a working class man or a woman delivering a baby, is just a pile of empty words that we believe. Curses, spells, etc only work if we believe in them! Why, even the self-proclaimed atheists are caught up in this curse and lend their hands to its support! Having the "Man" rule over us is beyond questioning.
In contrast to our modern culture, which works 8 + hours per day, it has been reported by anthropologists studying hunting and gathering societies that the average work day for them is 4 hours!Could this be what the story of Adam and Eve symbolized? Many writers and deep thinkers believe so.
The foundations to our lifestyle is inherent in the history of Western Civilization, culminating in its glory during Greco-Roman times and its rationalistic philosophy. Rationalism is a way of looking at the world where we cut up and organize events because that's the way our language, inherent to how we perceive the world, forces us to. Our Subject-Verb-Object grammar makes all but "me and thee" into an object to be manipulated for our gain. Its inherent to how we are conditioned. Rationalist, as defined by the "experts" is "one who follows reason and not authority in thought or speculation." In more technical terms, it's a method or theory "in which the criterion of the truth is not sensory but intellectual." Believe what we expound; distrust what you intuit.
Shonagh's work helps us realize that not being sensory takes the world out of the equation. Our senses are those by which we see the world. Yes, they are relative. For example, our eyes can only see as a human eye can see and not the way a fly sees within its brain interpreting messages from its thousands of retinas. Thus, rationalism is ultimately a human-centric perception of the world. It destroys relationship as well as denies (outlaws) alternative ways of seeing. Thus we have various religions, cultures and nations warring all the time. The callings, visions, scents, touchings, and savoring that connect us to Mother Earth and one another are all discounted. We are locked away from them in high-tech cages.
Rationalism originated in ancient Greece, according to Delores LaChappell. In the original Greek language, one could not frame words to express the notion that "I am one thing and the rest of the world another." (Lachapelle, p. 25). Yet this changed. Through the evolution of rationalism, knowledge could only come from the neo-cortex of the human brain, or the human ego. In other words, rationalism dismisses the more "feminine" non-rational, intuitive and relational minds that are able to see the world and self as a wholeness. The original rationalists, Plato et al, in essence were instrumental in divorcing human beings from Nature by abstracting it from the "chaos" of total existence.
Could this ancient knowledge of connectivity be related to the number of women that were burnt as being witches in medieval times?
Chaos has become a dirty word for it is associated with disorder. "Chaos" is simply the "order" of the universe in which everything effects everything else as well as being a state where infinite potentials abound. This is bad news if you're a control freak. There is nothing in this world that is separate, nor is there any end to the possibilities. Everything effects you at this moment and you effect everything else. The stage of the moon, the weather, what your kids are doing, how you slept last night, the flapping of a butterfly's wing in China....all these effect you. Meanwhile, your sitting there breathing effects the atmospheric composition of this world. We are cells in the Earth's respiratory system in that our breathing is part of a planetary dance which maintains the balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen. You and I dance with this entire world. WE alongside plants, lands and animals are the co-creators of our shared biosphere.
And, we are identified as being alienated by many psychologists why? I'd say because we don't know who we are by Nature. We have become the aliens we either dread or cherish as saviors.
