Call for impeachment: Open letter to Congress

by Paul Kruger     Page 1 of 2 page(s)

Tell A Friend

On Monday, June 9th 2008, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) made history on the floor of the House by reading 35 Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush. I highly respect his courage and integrity.

Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL) has his own impeachment in the works against Dick Cheney and has joined with Dennis in support of the proceeding against Bush.

As more comes to light on an almost daily basis about lies, deceit and outright illegal activity on the part of the Bush administration, it is ever more apparent that Congress must take this action on behalf of all Americans and in particular, on behalf of the thousands of dead and injured soldiers who died in a war started with lies.

The million plus dead Iraqi citizens also need vindication from America. The world is watching us and you, our Congress.

Congress was all to willing to impeach Bill Clinton over crap that had noting to do with his running the country or starting wars etc. You were all upset over what was really a personal family matter unrelated to governing.

Now you have a president who's actions have resulted in immense loss of life, the invasion and destruction of two nations and a complete undermining of our world status, based on lies, arrogance and deceit.

This president has been caught rifling through private communications of US Citizens without a warrant in direct violation of the Constitution he swore to uphold, as you also swore to uphold.

He is detaining people without any due process and without any actual proof they are terrorists or criminals. He is using torture in violation of every relative treaty to which we are a party.

He is instructing his people to refuse to cooperate with Congress in its pursuit of truth. He has tried to set himself and his cronies apart as immune for their own illegal activities.

The American people have an ever lowering respect for Congress and government based on the past two terms of office. Many of you are up for reelection this fall and what you do now will be reflected in the support your receive from your constituents.

You have let the Bush administration thumb their nose at you. You have actually aided and abetted his lies by continuing to sign blank checks for his nefarious campaign of aggression, dragging us all into deep debt financially and morally, for years to come.

Your voters see this. They will also note any reluctance on the part of Congress to hold Bush and Cheney accountable for their illegal actions.

Many Americans such as myself, are increasingly angry with the Bush administration and, by association, with Congress for doing nothing about it.

Congress is part of the checks and balances build into our system For those to work takes guts and determination in Congress but so far, aside from a few brave members, this is not happening. Congress is appearing week and ineffectual at doing their job.

I am asking every member of congress to join the move to impeach both Bush and Cheney. It will serve as a warning to future presidents as well as provide some vindication for those of us who are now saddled with the results of the current administration's ( and Congresses ) actions and inactions.

Today is the day to, as they say, "grow a pair" and stand up to Bush and Cheney and insist that they take responsibility for their behavior and its consequences.

Remember the Criminally Insane Are To Be Pitied Most

Let's be candid  about the obstruction of justice no longer being the only crime to accuse Conyers and company of, but complicity in the continuing mass murder of the occupation wars - actually now more than complicty, rather prime guilt being that the articles of impeachment have been filed and/but criminally buried. E.g. see below article:

Conyers Himself Answered, So I Told Him He Was The Most Guilty
(10 comments) I called Rep. Conyers's office, and was surprised to reach the Congressman in person. I charged that, because he was blocking the impeachment process, I held him even more responsible than Bush for the ongoing disaster in Iraq. Conyers didn't hang up.

Who is more guilty, more criminally insane? Bush, Cheney, or Pelosi and Conyers. Remember Conyers is the lynch pin of Bush, Cheney, impeachment denial.

Call 'em, and when speaking or leaving messages keep in mind the insane are to be pitied, whether criminally so or not.

Fine article.

Reply: Keep the word going!

The key is to keep the pressure on. Keep on Congress to impeach. Keep sending OpEd and Letters to the Editors of as many newpapers as possible.

Post this link on blogs. We have to get as many people to respond by calling, faxing and emailing their representatives in Congress.

If everyone who reads this sends this link to their email list, and askes everyone on those lists to send to all of their recipients we can spread this nationwide in days.

Congress only hears the loudest voice. We have to become the that voice.
