There have now been repeated polls-- national polls-- showing that Bernie Sanders does much, much better than Hillary Clinton in matchups with all the Republican primary candidates.
Against Donald Trump, Sanders wins by ten or more points. Imagine the coattails a win like that will provide. Sanders will definitely help the Democrats take back the senate and will very likely change the balance in congressional races that are currently considered losses for Democrats. The excitement and enthusiasm Bernie Sanders is producing among young people will change the outcomes of scores if not hundreds of races.
That's not going to happen if Hillary Clinton wins the primary, especially if she takes the win from Sanders with superdelegates. Some Sanders supporters will vote for Hillary, but many are saying they will stay home, vote for Green candidate Jill Stein or write in Bernie Sanders' name.
There is a possibility that Bernie sanders could win by a huge margin. If that happens it will be because he inspires people to come out to vote. He has an incredible history of winning with the help of massive independent support and substantial Republican support. Imagine that he does half as well as he did in Vermont with Independents and Republicans, where he earned 71% of Independents and 25% of Republicans. If he can persuade his "revolution" supporters to support the people he endorses, anything is possible.
Like Hillary loves to say, not so possible, if she's the candidate. It's almost as though the Democratic party has a death wish. Or maybe it's because they realize that a Sanders presidency, where he is the leader of the Democratic party, will really shake things up. He's said he believes in a 50 state strategy, like Howard Dean ran things. Perhaps he'll back challengers to incumbents, particularly DINOs who are corporate bought and owned. They may be choosing to lose with Hillary than to be primaried with the help of Bernie. I love the idea that the insiders of the Democratic are sweating. I want to see them gone. Berners are thinking about primarying Hillary superdelegates. That's what a revolution is about,
