Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking to the Israeli public about the kidnapping of 3 Israeli boys
Over the past weekend Rob Kall posted an article in OPEDNEWS originally published July 10 in the "Forward Forum"-an Israeli publication-entitled "How Politics and Lies Triggered an Unintended War in Gaza" by J.J. Goldberg.
Among the many revealing passages in the article regarding the current crisis in Gaza-that began with the kidnapping of three Israeli Yeshiva boys in the West Bank that happened on June 12-I quote the following:
"Once the boys disappearance was known, troops began a massive, 18 day search and rescue operation, entering thousands of homes, arresting and interrogating hundreds of individuals, racing against the clock. Only on July1, after the boy's bodies were found, did the truth come out. The government had known almost from the beginning that the boys were dead. It maintained the fiction that it hoped to find them alive as a pretext to dismantle Hamas' West Bank operations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu immediately placed a gag order on the deaths. Journalists who heard rumors were told Shin Bet wanted the gag order to aid the search. For public consumption, the official word was that Israel was 'acting on the assumption that they're alive'. It was, simply put, a lie."
After reading Goldberg's article it immediately brought back memories of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Lying for Dick Cheney is like telling the truth is for everyone else.
Knowingly lying to the public through use of the media was Cheney's specialty and he was unmatched in the memory of this septuagenarian.
Oh sure there's the old saw, "All politicians lie" but Cheney is in a league of his own as he took lying to new heights and the Iraq war and the current mayhem plaguing the country has to be laid squarely on his shoulders. Of course there was "Dubya" Bush who early on was in Cheney's pocket. And for sure there were others in the Bush administration spouting their own lies in the lead up to the war notably Secretary of State Colin Powell's phony presentation of falsehoods to the U.N. in February, 2003 and Condi Rice breathlessly intoning "mushroom clouds" unless Saddam Hussein was confronted and stopped.
But ole Dick Cheney, he played Tim Russert on "Meet the Press" like a drum and the New York Times and all the rest of the corporate media printed Cheney verbatim as if what he said to Russert was the truth.
So Netanyahu knowingly keeping the truth of the death of the three Israeli boys secret for weeks from the Israeli public so he could blame Hamas in Gaza for the murders just makes him a member of the Dick Cheney school of lying, a similar horror of a leader and a man.
The thing is these men are/were supposed to be leaders of "democracies", not the more renowned Joseph Stalin's and Mao Tse Dung's that were leaders of totalitarian states where withholding the truth and lying to their state controlled media was its way of exercising total control of all events.
Yet Dick Cheney remains free and un convicted for his crimes and Netanyahu remains Israel's prime minister and recently re-elected by the Israeli people.
Funny though, the world has long seen Israel as a pariah state, the apartheid power ruling over the occupied Palestinian's.
The US is fast becoming known as the over-reaching empire creating discord and chaos wherever it brazenly commits terror in the world. And when its NSA intercepts all electronic communication of everyone in the world including supposed allies there's no mistaking its intention to exercise hegemony over all countries using blackmail and intimidation as necessary if any should dare challenge its reign.
So boys and girls in case you haven't figured it out yet, the US government and its surrogate Israel are the two most dangerous entities on the planet and the main threats to initiate war, terror and instability on the world.
