For OpEdNews: Mary MacElveen - Writer

On Twitter, someone referred to the group U2 and while a boomer, my response to his Tweet was, “My favorite song has to be Sympathy for the Devil by the Stones. Don't know why, but love it! Gonna listen to it now!” Which I did and yes, chair-danced.

I have never been to a Stone’s concert and much to my regret and yes, their performance of Sympathy for the Devil on their Bridges to Babylon Tour is perhaps one of their greatest productions.

Well, it got me thinking as I just read the NY Times market page, the foreign markets are signaling what is to come today as our stock market opens which is more doom and gloom.  But, as I sat there chair-dancing; not a pretty sight, I realized something.  Those in power over these markets still cannot take something away from me and that is my personal enjoyment of hearing and feeling the music and yes to dance!

That can spill over into any number of things we as a people no matter where we come from on this planet cannot be denied by them.  Which is after all our heart, soul, love, and yes a moment of personal enjoyment.  This is where we have the power over selves in that brief moment in time.  I would call that one of the most important liberties of a free people.  One’s spirit!

When one is receiving some form of pleasure, it releases endorphins which is the most powerful chemical in one’s body which has the ability to lift ourselves from the morass of the soul.  It is basically when we can shut out the rest of this cruel, cruel world and say, “Stay away!”

Instead of listening to miscreants who are endlessly broadcasted to us via our televisions and my personal favorite miscreant being Rush Limbaugh, perhaps we should just tune him out.  Instead, head to your CD box, album box (okay dating one’s self), or computer and take time out for you.  Do not let these moronic people own your soul ever.  They have no right to invade your body, let alone your heart and spirit.  Say be gone, Rush and mean it.  If you do not, it is allowing him to control your emotions.  Don't let him ever!

Often it is stated, music soothes the savage beast, but in this case with our economy spiraling out of control, it should be, music has the ability to heal one’s soul.  Go chair-dance tonight, tomorrow, the next day or forever how many days it takes to heal you.  This crisis along with the imbeciles of the world will be there. Take time for you!

As I chair-danced, my mind was not on Rush Limbaugh but on one of the most creative artists in my humble opinion and his name is Mick Jagger.
