BUSH CAN INFLICT MORE DAMAGE BY DOING NOTHING

by Allen L Roland

www.opednews.com

Tell A Friend

The king of denial, George W Bush, who has yet to acknowledge that we are in a recession, will do everything in his power to maintain that denial right up to January 20, 2009. By that time the Dow Jones could be at 5500 reflecting a major depression with little if any policy changes in effect: Allen L Roland

Nobel-prize-winning economist Paul Krugman notes a "disturbing parallel" between 2008 and 1929: "the emergence of a power vacuum at the height of the crisis." With a "standoff" between Congress and the lame-duck administration, Krugman writes, "nothing is happening on the policy front that is remotely commensurate with the scale of the economic crisis. And it’s scary to think how much more can go wrong before Inauguration Day."

Obama's selection of Geithner as Sec of Treasury is a signal that Obama will work from the center-right ~ which is part of the tainted legacy of the Clinton years. Geithner is apparently taking orders directly from the international bankers. He is also cozy with AIG, Lehman, and Goldman Sachs and is the principle author of the $700 billion discredited bailout package.

Once again, the progressive left has been marginalized. As such, it's essentially the same old game with different players which means any meaningful change will be much slower and the current financial crisis will be much deeper.

If you're not outraged, you're on life support. Demand action now from the Obama transition team.

Call the Obama transition office, if you haven’t already at 202-540-3000 / 866 675 2008  or use their web form.

Former USAF, took the oath twice. If you're going to swear to defend the Constitution, you should learn about it. 1st Amendment is 1st for a reason.

I argue aggressively, even when I'm wrong. Just like you. A little anger makes you think better. No matter how aggressively I argue, I respect everyone's right to speak their mind. Free discussion is essential to every other freedom.

And yet...

They have not spent the TARP money on what they said, and they won't say how they're spending it, but you call that 'doing nothing'.

Just because YOU don't know what they're doing, doesn't mean they're doing nothing.  They're doing the same stuff they've been doing for 100 years to make us poorer, just more effectively, now.

Maybe if we give them more power, we'll all be enslaved or dead sooner.  How long will the American republic last when all its citizens are taxed into poverty to support the elite?  Will we still call ourselves the land of the free, while we slave for the state?

If we actually DO need more regulation, we should place that regulation on the power of the politicians to take from us and give to well-connected losers.

Don't blame Bush

Hi Allen,

Don't blame Bush; Nobody can manage a system that doesn't work.

He came to office with a $5 Trillion National Debt and approximately doubled it over 8 years.  That is a relatively 'normal' rate in our insane mathematical world.  In fact, the dot-com boom of the 90's had a lot to do with this new implosion.  Bust must follow boom.  But as the numbers get bigger, the pain grows worse.

I am not saying his denial doesn't make the situation worse, but the denial on the other side of the aisle is just as great.  Denial is the great consensus. :-)

The middle-class brought this crisis upon themselves.  Social Security was created because speculation destroyed the economy.  Now people regularly speculate (invest) because they fear Social Security won't be "enough."  Thus, they destroy the thing that was meant to help them, and re-create the same problem they were trying to escape.  As easy as it is to blame the leaders, the problem lies with the majority: the middle-class.

There is more to this story, in a mathematical sense, but the person people should be blaming for this mess is themselves.  Using Bush as a straw-man or whipping boy isn't going to solve anything.

peace,

steve

RIVERO'S RULE

The buck stops with Bush because of Rivero's Rule ~ all organizations and countries will eventually reflect the moral integrity and character of its leaders.

The Bush/Cheney administration has been an unregulated crime syndicate and the economy and stock market eventually became an unregulated crime syndicate whose principle driving force was and still is greed.

We have yet to fully open Pandora's box on the full extent of the abuses of power manifested and condoned by this administration.
