It was obvious to anyone with any sense--which excludes the entire Bush Regime and almost all of the "foreign policy community"--that the illegal and gratuitous US invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and Israel's 2006 bombing of Lebanon civilians with US blessing, would result in the overthrow of America's Pakistani puppet.
The imbecilic Bush Regime ensured Musharraf's overthrow by pressuring their puppet to conduct military operations against tribesmen in Pakistani border areas, whose loyalties were to fellow Muslims and not to American hegemony.
When Musharraf's military operations didn't produce the desired result, the idiotic Americans began conducting their own military operations within Pakistan with bombs and missiles. This finished off Musharraf.
When the Bush Regime began its wars in the Middle East, I predicted, correctly, that Musharraf would be one victim. The American puppets in Egypt and Jordan may be the next to go.
Back during the Nixon years, my Ph.D. dissertation chairman, Warren Nutter, was Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs. One day in his Pentagon office I asked him how the US government got foreign
governments to do what the US wanted. "Money," he replied.
"You mean foreign aid?" I asked.
"No," he replied, "we just buy the leaders with money."
It wasn't a policy he had implemented. He inherited it and, although the policy rankled with him, he could do nothing about it. Nutter believed in persuasion and that if you could not persuade people, you did not have a policy.
Nutter did not mean merely third world potentates were bought. He meant the leaders of England, France, Germany, Italy, all the allies everywhere were bought and paid for.
They were allies because they were paid. Consider Tony Blair. Blair's own head of British intelligence told him that the Americans were fabricating the evidence to justify their already planned attack on Iraq. This was fine with Blair, and you can see why with his multi-million dollar payoff once he was out of office.
The American-educated thug, Saakashkvili the War Criminal, who is president of Georgia, was installed by the US taxpayer funded National Endowment for Democracy, a neocon operation whose purpose is to ring Russia with US
military bases, so that America can exert hegemony over Russia.
Every agreement that President Reagan made with Mikhail Gorbachev has been broken by Reagan's successors. Reagan's was the last American government whose foreign policy was not made by the Isreali-allied neoconservatives.
During the Reagan years, the neocons made several runs at it, but each ended in disaster for Reagan, and he eventually drove the modern day French Jacobins from his government.
Even the anti-Soviet Committee on the Present Danger regarded the neocons as dangerous lunatics. I remember the meeting when a member tried to bring the neocons into the committee, and old line American establishment
representatives, such as former Treasury Secretary Douglas Dillon, hit the roof.
The Committee on the Present Danger regarded the neocons as crazy people who would get America into a nuclear war with the Soviet Union. The neocons hated President Reagan, because he ended the cold war with diplomacy, when
they desired a military victory over the Soviet Union.
Deprived of this, the neocons now want victory over Russia.
Today, Reagan is gone. The Republican Establishment is gone. There are no conservative power centers, only neoconservative power centers closely allied with Israel, which uses the billions of dollars funneled into Israeli coffers by US taxpayers to influence US elections and foreign policy.

Indeed, the mindlesslessness of the right wing hoi polloi ..
is ASTONISHING. I go to chat room some times and the depth and scope of it never ceased to shock and frighten me. If I had my druthers--and a lot of money--I would hire a couple of dozen of these yahoos to attend a fact intervention and film and put it all over the internet. And since these people normally can cheat in a debate in order to enforce their willful ignorance I would have 2 rules. If I say stop talking then they have to stop talking or leave and not get paid. And if I ask a yes or no question then they have to give a yes or no answer or they don't get paid. Incidentally, Mr. Roberts, did you ever check out my work about undoing all of Bush's support, "The Switch"? The logical thing is for Russia to strike first.
If a private person in our society was behaving in a manner similar to the way the USraeli Empire behaves, i.e., violent criminal insanity, that person would have been institutionalized or executed by now. No reasonable society would tolerate the threat posed by such a person and would act to remove it. Unlike Bush's illegal, immoral, wars based on lies, Russia would, at this point, be morally justified in striking the USraeli Empire first, in self-defense. It would almost be irresponsible for them not to. So in essence what we have here is Bush and his handlers and enablers playing a game of "suicide by cop" with the whole world. by Harold Smith (0 articles, 3 quicklinks, 2 diaries, 556 comments [1 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Tuesday, Aug 19, 2008 at 12:22:12 AM

Grim but accurate
The conclusion sums it up pretty good: McCain is our ticket to Armaggedon. The ads against McCain have been rather toothless so far; the concept McCain = 100 years war, and quite possibly nuclear, war should get top priority in the ads from now on. by francine (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 385 comments) on Tuesday, Aug 19, 2008 at 5:43:44 AM

Who Wants to Suffer 1,000,000 Years in Hell?
The Jewish punishment for murderers is 1,000,000 years their souls cast in stone. Also, murder is preemptive war. Surely, US government employees will get the big jolt. The 60 millions who voted for the Bush crew may receive lesser sentences. Be that as it may, I resent the media and others who lump us together as USrael or Jewish neocons or Zionist/Crusaders. These epithets imply that we Israelis are willing to suffer in Hell with our American pals. WOW!
The democrats don't seem to have the belly for standing up to the bushes. That warrentless wiretapping and anthrax scare has them pretty spooked, not to mention the ones like lieberman that have been bought completely. Maybe if the rest of the world calls for an intervention, but seeing the sorry state of the american media it is unlikely that that would even get properly reported. If and when the economy collapses completely, the dollar becoming worthless, then maybe, but my guess is that that has all been arranged to cause a crises so that they can invoke martial law, cancel elections and steal even more. so it looks like endgame. following the US collapse will be the environmental collapse and that really means endgame. it has already started. it will accelerate and all we love will be ashes. i'm so sorry. it didn't have to be this way. by Levon (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 36 comments) on Tuesday, Aug 19, 2008 at 12:44:31 PM

Why are the non-Bushies gutless wonders?
Why don't those in Congress opposed to war stand up and try to stop the idiocy? A tiny handful have, but not nearly enough. Why? Here are the possible reasons: (1) they've been bought; (2) they're afraid for their political career because Bush & Co. have better access to covert intelligence and operatives to ruin any opposition that gains traction (do you think it was a coincidence that Elliot Spitzer was 'nailed' in the press the same day that administration officials pushed through a monster financial package, opposed by Spitzer, to help out the banking buddies of Bush & Co.?); (3) they're afraid for the physical safety of themselves and their loved ones (if you think this is 'silly', do some checking - you'll be shocked at what you find). If McCain and the Neocons are put into office, I fully expect to see a couple of mouthy Congress members have 'accidents' or unexpected illnesses ( ?a la Anthrax in their mail? ). This kind of thing has been happening since the Clinton Administration, but Bush & Co. have really run with this method of solving problems (yes, I'm an equal opportunity basher of despots). Russia is getting ready
On day one of the Obama administration the Russians will be pushing the US all over the map because they view Obama as weak and inexperienced. He is. Obama with a Democratic Congress and anti-war liberals pressuring him will withdraw all troops from the middle east, Europe and Korea. All American naval forces will be withdrawn to US Ports. He will justify this by saying some nice about world peace and giving it a chance. The Russians, Iranians, and the Chinese will all laugh their rearends off and begin massing troops everywhere. They are already pushing a lame duck president around so what do you think they will do with an inexperienced wimp like Obama. We have never had nuclear war not because we pursued peace but because we pursued nuclear superiority. Bomb us and we will bomb you more. Very effective, because the Russians knew we usually had leaders who would do this. Obama and his liberal allies like the super wimps Pelosi and Reid will have the makings of a perfect peace storm and will put all their crazy ideas into effect to satisfy the anti-war folks. The man is an idealistic inexperienced elitist. We are in trouble folks. Obama is much more dangerous than McCain. McCain has bombed people and knows war. He hates it, but knows we need to be strong and ready to respond. Our enemies should have no doubt about what we will do. Obama has no experience with war except in endless stupid meetings with antiwar types. Reply: Are you kidding?
The Democrats have been right about foreign policy a lot more than the Republicans. Your comments prove the point of the author of the above article: neocons are idtot macho-mouthing war cheerleaders whose empty brains can't even fathom what the consequences of their stupid jingoism is. We have had Democrat presidents before and the Russians and Chinese didn't mass troops. In fact, under Reagan we had as big of an embarrassment in the boming of the US Marine barracks in Lebanon as we had with Carter with the Iranian hostage crisis. So your stupid red herring about Democrats advocating military weakness ia a crock of hot steamy. Your small brain proves the point made in the article. People like you will get us blown to kingdom come. No Democrat I have ever seen wants the US to be militarily weak. In fact, under YOU neocons our military is weaker, less prepared and more UN-feared than at any time in US history with the possible exception of the War of 1812. You neocons are the ones who have bankrupted our country and weakened us on all fronts, military and economic. We tried your way and we are turning into a Third World Argentina as a result of you neocons' failures. Thank you, Mr. Roberts
for your valuable insights! Like many commenters here, I feel some hope now seeing that Russia is up again and able to confront our rogue government. The people of Russia are like people everywhere. Nine of ten are the salt of the Earth, and the tenth is a monster. During the Soviet era and after the collapse, the sociopaths managed to gain control of Russia, and everyone else suffered tremendously. America appeared to be encouraging the corruption, so eventually there was a backlash, with the average citizen, who had initially greeted Americans as liberators, rejecting American ideas and considering any American a possible spy. America really squandered its chance to make an important friend! When Putin was elected, the US media warned that he was crushing freedom. It was true in some senses. As an American I have real trouble obtaining a Russian visa these days, and have not visited in several years. I hear about restrictions on the press. Journalists too often wind up dead. On the other hand, the average person in Russia has been doing much better. Some order has been established in what had become a lawless mafia-run fiefdom. Despite the crackdown reminiscent of the Soviet days, I have begun to admire Vladimir Putin for improving the lives of his own citizens, something the kleptomaniacal oligarchs were not interested in. They acted like kings--totally above all laws, capable of murdering children if they liked. (Does that sound familiar?) Bless Putin! May he prevail! by Oh (7 articles, 5 quicklinks, 3 diaries, 321 comments [41 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Tuesday, Aug 19, 2008 at 9:14:40 PM

Mix Of Punditry
What a mix of punditry. Trying to guess what will happen if one or the other is selected president. Thinking that there is somehow a difference between the neocon elite and the elite that have run this country from the begining. Ha Ha. All one needs do is look at the strait line of American actions from the beginning to know that neocon is just the latest term used to describe all elites that control everything. They may be more blatant and in your face than in years past but that is because they know their indoctrination works and people are too self centered to think about what gos on outside their little world. Is there an alternative?
Paul Craig Roberts writes: "If you desire to be poor, oppressed, and eventually vaporized in a nuclear war, vote Republican." Okay, I don't want a nuclear war, and I do not intend to vote Republican. But as Tony Forest posted in his diary here: Obama backs missile defense too The deal would further divide European countries into what Barack Obama’s foreign policy adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski calls openly, US "vassals" and those pursuing more independent policies. Any illusions that a Democratic Obama Presidency would mean a rollback of such provocative NATO and US military moves of recent years should be dismissed as dangerous wishful thinking. Obama’s foreign policy team in addition to father Zbigniew Brzezinski, includes Brzezinski’s son, Ian Brzezinski, current US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Affairs. Ian Brzezinski is a devout backer of US missile defense policy, as well as Kosovo independence and NATO expansion into Ukraine and Georgia. We deserve something better, something real, real change ! The complete article he quotes from is here. So, since I don't want nuclear war, I guess I'd better not vote for Obama either. And as Rob Kall frequently points out, no third party or independent candidate has any chance of winning, so there's no point voting for any of them. That's why I advocate that we not vote. Only if we stop delegating our power to people who abuse it, can we take back the reins of government and put an end to this reckless brinksmanship. There's a lengthy but somewhat interesting discussion about whether or not to vote going on here. For those who say that not voting is doing nothing, is voting for nuclear war better than doing nothing? Why should we vote for nuclear war if we don't want nuclear war? Because the only choices on the ballot are between nuclear war and nuclear war? I know Steven Leser is going to say that's the most ridiculous thing he's ever heard, and that if people don't want nuclear war, they should get out there and vote for nuclear war, because not voting for nuclear war is just plain, uh, surrender to nuclear war, or something like that. He always disagrees with me. But I believe that if you don't want war, you don't vote for war, and if the only choices on the ballot are war, and peace is not an option, then don't vote until you can put an acceptable option on the ballot. Because if you vote for nuclear war, you'd better be ready for it, because that's what you're going to get. by Mark E. Nuclear War
Do you really think our next President should be Obama? As America thinks we can turn our heads to the Mid-East and the bad people will go away. Has any one read the book of Revelation ? I doubt it, because we are trying to kick God out of America. The world will cry Peace, Peace, but there will be no Peace. We need a President that wants to protect America, not turn her head to the Terrorist. Russia has attacked Georgia because they are supplying Israel with oil. God Is Clearly A Sadist
The trouble with all you god believers is you expect god to take care of things because you are too self centered and lazy to take responsibility for what goes on in the world. This type of oblivious thinking is exactly what has aloud the evil to control our world for so many centuries. Big daddy watches over us and things are going according to his plan. If this is in any way true, then god is a sadistic SOB that doesn't deserve our worship. In fact he/she would be my definition of pure evil. Nuclear war could be a real scenario for them.
Authoritarian personalities don't share and in world gaming have shown a propensity for war over mutual cooperation. So the idea of a nuclear war is all too possible. They would want a limited one to survive and rebuild in its aftermath. I just don't know where it could erupt and under what circumstances it could occur. The problem is in too many places under too many different conditions. The question is how many will be used and where on the earth will they detonate? Ever see the series "Jerico" about a nuclear coup de ta here? It was scary. It was done by a cabal of reich-wing disaster capitalists that wanted the USA for their power base. Iran was blamed and nuked for it. One of their plans is too attack Iran. It also includes hitting both China and Russia's nuclear stockpiles too! We don't need to have that kind of future on their terms. by nightgaunt (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 449 comments [27 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Saturday, Aug 23, 2008 at 2:16:52 PM

To Vote Or Not To Vote
The people who vote decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything--Stalin. Having said that, if you're going to vote, get informed and go with your conscience, Don't cop out by voting for whom you think might have the best chance of winning. Why settle for the lesser of 2 evils? Big money controls both major political parties. The corporations [same root as corpse] have more rights and power than any citizen. How can a corpse get the right to "free" speech? Vote for a third party, because either major party will lead to a forever war against somebody, if not Iraq, then Iran, then maybe Syria, etc. (The Congressional Industrial War Complex). Look for some new Osama Bin Laden boogieman or some new 911 false-flag-type "terrorist" staged event to justify a new war effort--no matter who gets "elected". Education is one key factor. America has had several generations "graduate" from our federally funded sheople factories. I think the issue is not politically solvable. Spirituality can make a difference, though. But the religious right is wrong, wrong. And Benjamin Creme's Maitreya--the New Age Messiah--may soon make his appearance and indeed may solve world hunger-- a good thing, but I'm not in favor of a one world anything. Large=corrupt, period. We live in interesting times. Perhaps surreal. Curioser and curioser. Many people on the web are using Biblical language, eg. apocalyptic, end times, end game, etc. But why are the religious right in favor of every war the neocons dream up? As far as I can read Jesus was totally nonviolent and politically aloof. With good reason. When Church and State shake hands, blood flows. Don't forget the Inquisition. It's great for Christians to vote, just don't force religious values on those who don't want it. Don't use the State to enforce conscience. Jesus didn't. I am voting for Ron Paul, if I vote at all. Remember, "Those who count the votes decide everything". So why pretend that it matters? Remember Florida and then Ohio. Elections have been bought, sold and stolen since humanity had them. The elitists are in control. Maybe we can slow down their agenda, but certainly not stop it. Those who can grow their own food are going to be a lot happier than those who can't. Those who live in rural areas are going to be better off than those who live in easily gated off cities which may well be "terror" targets. Nothing like fear to controll the masses of sheople. This election I'm voting for moving out of the large cities. You should too. by Loren James (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 10 comments) on Sunday, Aug 24, 2008 at 1:02:35 AM
