At your local convenience store, if a clerk is short a few bucks during the shift, corrective measures are taken immediately. Make an illegal turn or roll through a stop sign while driving and hope you weren't spotted by a traffic officer. Skip paying your bills for a month or two and watch your world fall to pieces. These enforcement and regulatory mechanisms permeate our world - and rightly so.

But the regulatory mechanisms that are designed to control the largest, most potentially destructive political, institutional and military hierarchies in the world have failed - and failed miserably with catastophic results. Small groups of underhanded persons are able to orchestrate failures within this machinery in pursuit of insidious agendas - agendas that affect immense populations. Namely, the seemingly oblivious American people.

In the most challenged US presidential election in history, in 2000, the will of the voters in the key state of Florida was circumvented - and George W Bush was handed a victory that was not his by over a half a million votes.

The great machinery was maneuvered - and it was a spectacular success - with ramifications that few could have foreseen.

In spite of the mechanisms that are designed specifically to protect the American people - the 911 attacks occur, even with a laundry list of warnings, with the most sophisticated intelligence apparatus and military defenses in the world.

The great machine was unattended - or so it is claimed.

The political hierarchy that is designed to steer the Great Ship America was hijacked in order to attack and occupy Iraq - all based on a deliberate campaign of lies by key political figures with nefarious motives - and a cowardly congress that dared not question the lynch mob.

The great machine was intentionally and skillfully subverted.

By all credible accounts, the invasion and occupation of Iraq has been a disaster. Haliburton and Blackwater scandals have been as regular as clockwork. Torture at Abu Garib prison. Industrialized murder of civilians. Lack of vehicle and body armor has caused 4,200 US deaths and 35,000 serious injuries. A $50 billion war advertised as a six month endeavor has reached $800 billion and is entering it's sixth year.

The great machine was manipulated, suppressed and ignored.

The 2004 election process, by all meaningful accounts, was infected with corruption handing a second term to George W Bush - largely as a result of the manipulated vote count within the key state of Ohio.

Yet another deliberate perversion of the great machine that worked so well in 2000.

The catastrophic financial collapse of the US economy was explained as yet another unforeseen disaster - yet warning signs were widespread and obviously ignored.

Once again, the great machinery was unattended.

US taxpayer bailouts in the hundreds of billions have gone to a bevy of corporations that have been grossly mismanaged - yet the very people that failed are being rewarded. Celebrations and bonuses abound. Accountability and oversight has been perverted on the most immense of scales. It's happening right at this moment.
