Small Rural Jurisdictions/Big, BIG News!!!!! The following is a news flash from Bob St. Peter of Food For Maine's Future! and Lisa Fernedez of Portland Maine Permaculture. I know some readers have asked about updates regarding Sedgwick....here is an update":.
"This just in...

Last night at their town meetings two more Maine towns passed the Local Food & Community Self-Governance Ordinance. The town of Appleton passed the LFCSGO by a vote of 28 to 16. The Town of Livermore passed the LFCSGO unanimously. (Burl's note, "YES!")

This brings the number of Maine towns that have passed the Local Food & Community Self-Governance Ordinance to eight: Sedgwick; Penobscot; Blue Hill; Trenton; Hope; Plymouth; Appleton; and Livermore. All ordinances were passed by voters at town meetings.

The Town of Fayette is scheduled to vote on the Local Food & Community Self-Governance Ordinance this Saturday, June 16.

The Town of Sedgwick's Community Self-Governance Committee and Town of Blue Hill will host a community forum on the Local Food & Community Self-Governance Ordinance this Monday, June 18 at 5:30pm at the Blue Hill Town Hall. More info below.

Have a great day!

To provide the reader with just a little information on who these people are, Lisa Fernedez is the organizer and "guru" of Permaculture in the Portland area of Maine.  She is seen by many as a leader in the state.  Bob St Peter is the head of Food For Maine's Future and works hard to support small, local community farms.  He is often in the capitol, Augusta, to support the movement against the likes of genetic engineering firm Monsanto. "
