Tea Partiers and Republicans love to spout about making Iraq a Democracy like America. Now what do they know about democracy? Obama made a speech about America and he was correct, but that speech angered greatly the likes of Rand Paul, Sarah Louise Palin, Glenn Beck and other Tea Partiers. America is not a Christian nation. It's a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, a Wicca nation. .
A nation where any religion can be practiced.
But I am going even further. America also is not a Democracy.
When the founding fathers got together, they formed a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. Democracies are just another form of dictatorship, where one group rules over another. Also a democracy does not have freedoms as Ben Franklin said; "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb discussing what's for dinner?" Real freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken", not even by a 99% vote. Yet today in America we have lost our freedom. Our Constitutional Rights have been taken from us without our permission. Our Congressional leadership and the Office of the President have betrayed us and the Constitution. Since the attacks of 9/11 Presidents, including the current one and Congressional leaders have violated our Constitutional freedoms time and time again. So when did we lose our freedoms? When we through our government, as a nation, allowed 3 corporations to create a media monopoly with our freedom of the press. NewsCorp, Bloomberg and Hearst Corporation. They own the news, they own the majority of the print and electronic media outlets in America; they orchestrate the news and spin out their version on America and the world.
Before we had Fox News blaring out everywhere, we had another actor, The Gipper or a.k.a. Ronald Reagan. When he first ran for national office, his team put together a rally in California. The crowd was screened and bused in. They were given cues when to wave their little American flags, told how they could dress, made sure that they all had their Reagan pins showing, the speech script was written and placed on cue cards, and it was a closed set. Then the media taped, and then edited that rally before it played nationally for the American public. Did that one rally take away our freedom of speech and of the press? Yes it did. Now the same scenario gets done again every day on the O'Reilly Factor, Hannity and Co. Glenn Beck, and a whole host of right wing orchestrated news programs under the hand of Rupert Murdoch, or the current mayor of New York, Mr. Bloomberg or on CNN. Is the opposition allowed to speak in a fair and balanced light? No they are not. One group through its billions of dollars will exclude the other. That is not freedom. Did Congress turn a blind eye to our Constitution and our rights as citizens of the Republic? Yes they did. Could they have prevented the corporate take over our Freedom of the press? Yes they could have, but because of certain payments being made through lobbyists, they rather chose not to. Most countries would call that corruption, but in America we call it PAC money and business as usual. .
Then we got the Patriot Act rammed through Congress by another set of national liars and their team, G.W. Bush and Richard Cheney. Hey they lied about Saddam's WMD's for the pretext to go to war and in turn steal millions of barrels of oil to enrich themselves. There was no 500 tons of Yellowcake uranium being sent to Iraq. Saddam had no link to the actions of the extremists that orchestrated 9/11. When people like former ambassador Joe Wilson opposed them for lying, the Bush team put his wife and family in danger by revealing that his wife Valerie was a CIA covert operative. Eight years later we are still in a war based on lies told. So what was lost? Our freedom of speech was lost. The Patriot Act pitted one family member against another one, the mark of Cain and Abel. Brother against Brother.
It has made America a nation of paranoid people afraid of Muslims, Hispanics, Asians (especially from China) and liberal's verses conservatives who have armed themselves to the teeth as they say. . This hate and paranoia is promulgated through the daily bombardment of the media owned by Billionaire moguls Hearst, Bloomberg and Murdoch. It's a powder keg just waiting to explode.
Do I believe that the Patriot Act was a contrived plot by political conservatives? Yes I do. Because, it seeks to control certain segments of the republic by another segment of that same republic. Ben Franklin's two wolves and lamb scenario. The Patriot Act suspends our 4th,5th,and 6th amendment rights The government or local law enforcement agencies may search and seize Americans' papers, property and effects without probable cause or a warrant to assist in suspected terror investigations. The government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial or being formally charged with a crime. The government may monitor, disrupt and infiltrate religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity under the Act. The government may at its discretion deny lawyers to Americans accused of a crime. This is a violation of the Republic's citizen's Miranda rights under the 5th amendment of the Constitution. The government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other public or private records if they tell anyone the government subpoenaed information related to an investigation. Violations of our basic Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Association. Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them. A violation of the 6th admendment.
Eight weeks ago I was interviewed by the U.S. Secret Service at my college in the Middle East where I taught based on an accusation by a family member who I suspect is also a Patriotic Tea Party member, then terminated by the college because of the stigma of a member of the teaching staff getting visited by U.S. law enforcement, then I was deported from that country. Were my Constitutional rights violated? Yes. Does our government or its law enforcement agency "goons" care about the Constitution? No it does not.
Now we all have lost not only our Constitutional rights but through President Obama we have lost our basic right to Freedom of Choice. By executive order under that Healthcare law rammed through Congress all citizens must have healthcare insurance or they will be punished for not having it. To put Franklin's quote into modern terms, it's the modern wolves of Corporate sponsored Democrats and Republican-Tea Partiers, like Rand Paul deciding just how to carve up America (the lamb) for themselves.
