The wheels are starting to come off the Cheney/Bush war wagon and Scott McClellan's new book ( What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception ) merely confirms what the alternative press, including myself, have known and reported since 2002 ~ that the Bush administration has been dishonest since day one and continues so today: Allen L Roland

29 May 2008 / A former senior aide to President Bush claims that the White House deliberately mounted a dishonest propaganda campaign to sell the Iraq invasion to the US public, in the most damning insider account of the presidency so far. Scott McClellan, who worked for Bush for seven years, including three as White House spokesman, brands the war a "serious strategic blunder" and "not necessary".

Book revelations:

* The president went to war against Iraq to secure his place in history and to spread democracy in the Middle East. Because he and his aides knew the case for war couldn't be sold to the American people on that basis, the president deliberately oversold and misrepresented intelligence on Saddam Hussein's links to international terrorism and his pursuit of weapons of mass destruction in what amounted to a "propaganda campaign."

* Presidential political advisor Karl Rove and former vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby lied to McClellan about their roles in the Valerie Plame affair, leading him ~ in turn ~ to lie to the media.

* Rove's influence led Bush to give politics primacy over policy, even when dealing with national security, and played a particularly strong role in the administration's abominable response to the destruction of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina.

Former White House chief of staff and Bush’s senior political advisor Karl Rove, who comes in for some of the harshest criticism in the book, suggested that McClellan didn’t even write it.

“First of all, this doesn’t sound like Scott. It really doesn’t,” Rove said on Fox News. “Not the Scott McClellan I’ve known for a long time. Second of all, it sounds like somebody else. It sounds like a left-wing blogger.”

Current White House press secretary Dana Perino issued a statement reacting to the reports on the book: “Scott, we now know, is disgruntled about his experience at the White House. For those of us who fully supported him, before, during and after he was press secretary, we are puzzled. It is sad ~ this is not the Scott we knew.”

Solution:

Have McClellan testify under oath and start Impeachment proceedings for Bush and Cheney now !

PEOPLE THAT COULD, WOULDN'T

Most of us are peons, and probably will never even make it to pawns. All we can do is blog,send criticle emails,sign petitions,and gripe about this corrupt administration. The things in McCellens book is news to knowone. It was known from the beginning. The peons in both parties knew it, so obviously the main players knew. there was bound to be fairly honest people involved in some of these decision making issues. How do they keep their conscience from tearing them apart? How do they look at themselves in the mirror knowing so many have died, and families destroyed knowing they were part of this. My main question is WHY SOME OF THESE HONEST PEOPLE THAT COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT, DIDN'T?

ANSWER

My main question is WHY SOME OF THESE HONEST PEOPLE THAT COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT, DIDN'T?

Because they were controlled by fear and were part of the Establishment power structure ~ McClellan is the first real crack in the Cheney/Bush neocon facade and it will be rapidly followed by others.

I hope you are right,but the power structure is obviously gearing up to run McClellen through the same wringer they ran George Tenet through.Again the people that could have done something, when George Tenet came forward, sat on their asses, and failed to see this oppertunity to start rebuilding what has been lost by the Bush administration. Instead, they let the power structure crucify George Tenet

We must make the American Dream a reality

What gets me is the arogance behind the logic that rewards the thought once posed by Bob Dylan in a verse that states "Steal a little and they will throw you in jail. Steal a lot and they will make you king." We must bring some true justice to this wide spread treason or the American Dream will never amount to anything but a show. A show that kills the one who believes.

While we've been screaming...

A few years ago, the "Downing Street Memo" was contemptuously dismissed by most major news outlets as "nothing new". Now the public testimony by someone involved with the Bush administration that they systematically lied to sell an unnecessary war in Iraq is dismissed by us as "old news". Not so long ago, anyone who so much as suggested that was dismissed as a far-left wingnut. Something has changed. For the better, I think.
