Earlier this year I read a book on creating and using to-do lists. That got me thinking that humanity needs a to-do list. As we hit the final stretch of another year, here is the start of a list. It is NOT prioritized.

  1. Teach kindness and compassion throughout the educational system levels, or as the Dalai Lama suggests, the practice of warmheartedness.
  2. Teach connection consciousness-- that all people, all life, all things are connected to each other.
  3. End corporate personhood.
  4. Provide healthcare to all
  5. Provide free college education to all
  6. Tax stock transactions for stock owned less than a month
  7. Tax inheritances substantially. End dynasties
  8. Eliminate ultra wealth by making it illegal to have more than $200 million in worth
  9. stop all welfare to corporations and wealthy landowners.
  10. Expand staffing for tax auditing ultra wealthy by a thousand percent.
  11. Set a plan to increase transparency by 100% every two years.
  12. End job inequality for women and minorities.
  13. End the USA's self identity as the country that polices the world-- pull back 80% of military. Cut military budget comparably.
  14. Cancel US membership in all international trade agreements. Re-do agreements that favor people, not billionaires and big, transnational corporations
  15. Automatically register all citizens to vote.
  16. Give the day off as a national vacation on voting day.
  17. require voting -- figure out the carrots and sticks so voting is at least 95%.
  18. End lobbying.
  19. Make it illegal for former members or staffers of congress to work for any company or industry in which they were involved with legislation.
  20. End big companies. Require divestment if they grow too big. Don't allow mergers or acquisitions.
  21. Tax at progressively higher rates for incomes over a million, five million, ten million, etc., with tax on income over 20 million at 90%, and at 100 million, at 95%.
  22. Develop a science of objectively measuring power over that people and companies possess, then develop policies to regulate and limit such powers.
  23. institute accounting for all externality costs to the environment-- currently unpaid for by many corporations. Use the money to invest in environmental rehabilitation and protection. Make theft of externality costs a serious crime. Establish mandatory labeling of all products and services to include externality costs.
  24. Re-define betrayal of the public trust as illegal corruption just as bribe taking is corruption.
  25. Eliminate electronic voting. ONly use re-countable paper ballots.
  26. change terms in the Senate to three years, and only allow members of congress to serve two terms.
  27. End lifetime appointments of Supreme Court Justices.
  28. Make it mandatory to prosecute war criminals. A president cannot say "we'll look forward."
  29. Identify what extremely strong efforts will be necessary to reverse global warming. Do them.
  30. Eliminate all laws that make crimes of things people do which don't harm other people or property-- i.e., morality and drug laws. Release and clear the records of all prisoners held for possession of drugs, including giving them back their right to vote in all elections.
  31. Ban all government profit making-- on student loans, on fines from minor offenses and court fees. Clarify laws that make abuse of the law prosecutable as felony exploitation of government power.
  32. Establish abuse of police or government power as crimes with severe punishments.
  33. Make lying by police to protect fellow police a felony with mandatory jail time.
  34. Replace every military and intelligence agency and take fresh account of all funding. New people mean ends of old secret operations and systems.
  35. stop all wars
  36. stop use of drugs, including antibiotics, in food.
  37. Assess every additive to food and identify and label all that increase health and safety risk.
  38. Ban GMOs that use glyphosate or genetically bred in pesticides. Make use of GMOs a crime, as it is in Russia.
  39. Require labeling of all GMOs and all herbicides and insecticides used on food.
  40. Fund research to develop screening and harm prevention programs to deal with psychopaths, sociopaths and narcissists.
  41. Fund research into new ways to keep businesses small.
  42. fund local, community development that creates connection and local resource asset and story consciousness
  43. Eliminate all authoritarian regimes. Replace with most democratic, representative, bottom-up form of representation possible.
  44. re-define bigness, extreme wealth as obscene, deranged, debased, sick.
  45. Ban lobbyists and people directly connected to commercial orgs or orgs advocating for commercial orgs from being appointed to regulatory agencies
  46. Cancel laws that allow media consolidation. Force media aggregators to sell off media properties where they own more than one radio or TV station or newspaper in same metro area.
  47. Identify measures, where the US is not in the top twenty, that become goals to raise quality-
  48. Immediately stop funding totalitarian governments and dictators
  49. Help all organizations that help others and causes-- empower them.
  50. Protect indigenous peoples from exploiters and predators-- logging companies, missionaries, etc.
  51. learn from indigenous people-- ways of living, knowing relating, healing
  52. reduce packaging by 80% Put tax on all packaging-- to pay for costs of disposal, recycling. Start developing grades for packaging in terms of sustainability and recyclability.
  53. Make regional monopolies illegal-- like only having cable or internet access from one provider.
  54. Subsidize local renewable resource energy production that feeds energy into the grid. Invest heavily in localized energy production and enhancing the efficiency and safety of the power grid
  55. ban nuclear energy and nuclear weapons. Shut down all nuclear power plants.
  56. massively fund public transportation.
  57. reverse the privatization that has been predatorily used to steal from the commons. Start with water and power generation.
  58. Start a massive program to protect endangered species and biomes.
  59. Develop non-violent strategies to regulate and control rogue states and their leaders.
  60. Develop strategies to deal with violent rogue states, organizations and their leaders and recruiting
  61. Create a federal agency for Peace
  62. Create a federal agency for Equality, which studies inequalities-- race, gender, income, access.
  63. End the Fed and Create a national public bank and pass legislation clearing the way for cities, states, counties and municipalities to create public banks.
  64. Provide healthcare to all
  65. Fund research on post-capitalist, post-corporate economics
  66. Provide tax policies that favor small business and worker-owned businesses and co-ops
  67. Treat US born terrorists of all religions, including Christian and Jewish, the same way that all terrorists are treated, including going after the organizations that support them.
  68. Ban at all levels of government all laws that make it more difficult for third party candidates to run for office or give favorable advantage to Republicans and Democrats.
  69. End gerrymandering at all government levels. Solutions already exist.
  70. Re-invent the treatment of people with mental and emotional problems. Psychiatry has become a predatory business serving big Pharma and Hospitals and the state. End that.
  71. Re-invent education to produce smart, thinking citizens who know their rights, know when they are being exploited by predators, instead of the current public system that produces unthinking, obedient factory workers and soldiers
  72. Fund investigative journalism. Develop ways to fund that prevent adverse influence.
  73. Protect the internet and technologies that increase our ability to communicate and connect.
This is, of course, a partial list. What else should be added to the list?
